I heard some cancer causing chemicals are in some Nalgene bottles. I want to know what ones are hazardous to my health.

  1. According to some sources, you should avoid the bottles made out of polycarbonate plastic. These are marked w/ the triangular recycling symbol w/ the #7 inside.

Consider the ones made out of HDPE; these are marked w/ the triangular recycling symbol w/ the #2 inside.

    Nalgene's co. site w/ consumer information:www.nalgenechoice.com

  2. I am pretty sure it is the ones with the number 7 on the bottom.  Don't stress too much--the chemicals are found in insignificant amounts normally.  However, hot liquids inside nalgene's make the chemical more present.

  3. As I know it, all of them. The liquid leeches chemicals out of the container. There are metal versions available, which are (so far!) safe to use.

I have also heard (from a biologist friend of mine) that the Nalgene company also animal tests.
