Samuel Peter kayo's Masgaev, now the W.B.C. wants him to fight Vitali Klitschko who hasn't fought in years!!!! Haye knocks out Maccarinelli and says he is moving up to take on the heavys. What do u think is in store for the Heavyweight division? I think Peter and Wlad should fight to decide the undisputed champ. And Haye surprised me how easy he dispatched Maccarinelli. OH the Humanity!!!!

  1. I think you basically said it all, because everyone now wants to see Peter fight a rematch with Wladimir to determine the first TRUE heavyweight champ since Lennox Lewis retired.  And if the brothers really want to both be champs at the same time, then have Vitali face the winner of Chagaev-Valuev 2- I'm sure it would be huge in Europe or even over here.  Haye also surprised me, because I was picking him to win, but I didn't think he could get Maccarinelli out of there that quickly and I think that win showed that he is at least someone to watch in the heavyweight division.

  2. You know the sanctioning bodies have to keep their opinions to themselves. Peter to fight the older Klitschko is retarded! The sanctioning bodies need to listen to the fans and put the real fight together W. Klitschko vs S. Peter. Peter showed a different side of him Saturday night. His boxing skills for a big man has improved. It got Manny Steward's attention to give Peter a good complement and even made him think of give Peter his long awaited rematch with Klitschko.... Haye destroyed Maccarinelli! I remember saying Haye wll destroy Big Mac in 5 or less rounds and he did it in two! Is Haye the next Evander Holyfield to go from Cruiser champion to Heavy champion? He made it clear last night he is a threat!

  3. If this fight was an indication of what the heavyweight division has in store for us, we better hope the newcomers come along quickly.  This fight was pathetic.

Peter came into tonight’s fight with the opportunity of a lifetime, but he showed up overweight and in no condition to fight like a champion.  He’s lucky he got the knockout to avoid collapsing from exhaustion in the middle to late rounds (of course, Masgaev is no spring chicken and he might have had a stamina problem also).

Manny Stewart seemed to be drooling when he talked about a Klitschko-Peter rematch.  I think that says more about Sam than it does about Vladimir.

The idea that the WBC would even think of allowing Peter to fight Vitali Klitschko is absurd.  If Vitali has any class at all he will refuse the fight and insist that Peter fight his brother to unify the title until a championship caliber fighter comes along.

    UUUUgly!!!! Is right, Ace.

  4. we in Britain would shout....'who ate all the pies, you ...fat..etc etc it was much the same with the Haye fight ,an obvious mismatch again by Warren and co.If Haye moves up he has a chance against Peter, that's how dismal I believe he is.a point made here in England was just how these people are protected with obvious no-hopers to fight and as soon as they fight anyone capable, like Haye, they are exposed and the desperate public conned again!Do'ya know what,I think their are one or two people I know who could challenge Peter or Masgaev and stand a chance,Ive never been a heavyweight fan since Tyson late 80's but now it's ridiculous!!

  5. I think it is finally coming together i taped and watched both fights, i think that it will have everything when haye moves up.  Peter posseses tremendous punching power and has a good chin, and heart.  Haye has great handspeed and alot of one punch power, but his chin is questionable.  Klitschko is now the #1 heavyweight, but if he fights peter we will have a TRUE HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION for the first time since Lenoxx Lewis.  I hope that peter will fight wladomir, and that haye will build up his resume as  a heavyweight thru the ranks and eventually get a title shot,, and dont forget about the young gold medal winner povetchkin who is another young heavyweight.  This division is getting better and better the only thing thats missing is a true american heavyweight but there is a rising star named Chris Arreola who is 23-0 with 21 KO's this division by next year will be resurrected and hopefully the face of boxing a young strong popular star, like haye or Klischko or peter any of them will do. Great night in heavyweight boxing.

  6. I hope there will be a rematch between the younger Klitschko and Sam Peter, anything other than a unified heavyweight title is a farce.

Maskaev got rocked early in the fourth round, but when Peter moved in to try and finish, Maskaev caught Peter with a nice counter left hook that wobbled the Nigerian.  If Oleg wouldn't have been pushing 40 coming off an 18 month layoff I think the fight would have ended right there.  As it was, Peter survived to hear the round end, regrouped and eventually ended it in the sixth.  It may not have been as impressive as the Jeremy Williams KO, but it still was a better finish than the snoozer between Wlad and Ibragimov.  If Peter doesn't come into the rematch with Klitschko in a lot better shape than he did for Oleg, Wlad might out point him again.

Klitschko was down three times against Peter the first time but won anyway.  Peter was down three times against McCline but won anyway.  Neither of these guys impress me with their chin, but on the other hand both got up from three knockdowns to win, which shows heart if not defensive skill.  No other heavyweight fight makes sense, other than a rematch.  The public has no interest in seeing both Klitschko's holding fragments of a heavyweight title, unless they fight each other, which they say is not an option.

All the belts in the hands of one fighter is the only real hope for the division, so until that happens any other fight is counter productive.  Talent levels and criticism aside, the world needs a legitimate heavyweight champion almost as bad as the heavyweight division needs an influx of young talent.   I hope the heavyweight division can produce one with the rematch.

Klitschko is still in the dominate position, so he should make Peter fight Ruslan Chagaev if a rematch cannot be made in Peter's next fight, then promise the winner of that one a unification match for a real heavyweight championship.  Ideally Wlad should go after Ruslan first, but either way, the title Chagaev holds must eventually be worked into the mix.  Unfortuantely the politics make such a senario unlikely.

  7. Depends on if Vitali can make it thru training camp. Vitali proved in his easy disposal of Corrie Sanders he`s the best Klitchko. Sam Peters is a lame duck. If he wins the heavyweight title he`ll one way way or another be picked off by one of the top ten russian heavyweights. I have to admit I didn`t think the heavyweight division was in this bad a funk untill I see a fat sloppy Nigerian boosted up as a genuine contender. Did no one else notice the resigned demeanor in Maskaev before the fight.? Anyway theres a lot of young hungry contenders out there but the fact is as long as Wladimer can jab his way to easy victories he`ll be considered number one.
