First of all, I have no medical insurance and cannot afford to go to a doctor...I am a 25yr old female that is very stressed-work full time and getting my MS full time. Three days ago I felt nauseus and was pale, two days ago I could barely speak and had a slight sore throat, yesterday I felt better but then my sore throat got worse. Today, I looked in the mirror and noticed large white spots on one side (to the right of my uvula) at the back of my throat. What should I do to treat this, my throat really hurts!!

  1. Trachisan Lozenges is very effective in sore throat.

It contain Tyrothricin, Chlorhexidine gluconate and lidocaine

Chew it 3-4 times a day.

You also can use lukewarm saline water for gargle.

  2. gargle with soluble asprin but if the spots go yellow you will need antibiotics

  3. Cloroseptic spray will help with sore,  but white spots might mean infection.  Don't let it go too long.

  4. 1)  I have NOT had good luck w/ Chloraseptic or other OTC allopathic throat sprays, except for Listerine.  Nor have I had good luck at all w/ Sucrets, (and they taste awful, all of these, IMHO.)

    2)  Have you tried the "gargle w/ warm salt water, eat lots of raw garlic (It's an extremely powerful antibiotic/antifungal/antiviral medicinal herb.), eat lots and lots of Vitamin C route?"

    3)  I do have excellent outcome taking homeopathic Mercurus Vivus in either 6x or 30x, regardless of what any skeptic has to say.  It's worked for me, and worked well.  Period.  Costs about $8-$10, depending upon where you buy it.  Only the salt water and garlic cure is cheaper than this.  try also the "Juice of one fresh organic lemon, 1 jigger of Irish whiskey, tablespoonful of fresh raw, local honey in a cup of tea or hot water, then go to bed all night and sweat it out.

    4)  Lots of echinaecea/goldenseal tincture and other antibiotic herbs.  You can try usnea, myrrh, propolis, schizandra, astragalus, licorice, ginseng, osha.

    5)  Some folks swear by honey loquat syrup (available at places that sell Chinese herbs, some pharmacies--especially those in NYC and SF and many healthfood stores and co-ops.)  Honey is also an extremely powerful and effective antibiotic/antiviral/antifungal, but it's much better to use raw, unprocessed honey, preferably from your local area than it is to used commercial processed honey.

    6)  Those white patches are one of 3-4 things.  a)They could be (and more than likely are) areas of strep colonies, in which case you will more than likely need to go see a Dr. for antibiotics.  If the redness continues, or gets worse and the sore throat refuses to resolve, or you start to run a fever, suspect strep, and if you do run a fever, do go to a Dr. immediately. b)  If you're really run down, it could be oral candida (thrush).  c)  It could also be a really bad case of tonsillitis.  Those spots may be "tonsil stones", called tonsilloliths in Medicalese.  They are essentially dead white blood cells, dead virus and/or bacteria bodies, dead immune cells all wrapped up in minerals (mostly calcium and sulphur) and held together w/ some lovely mucous and cholesterol/sebum-like fatty acids.  In some ways, it's like having a giant zit on your tonsils, but the good news is this is proof, they're working.  Your tonsils, that is.  Nice, huh?

  5. Cepacol works for me.

But you know another thing you should do? Well, when my sister did not have medical insurance and she got ill with something, she would go to the pharmacist window at the grocery store or drug store and tell them her situation. They than would recommend the BEST OTC prescription that she should take for her symptoms. There was even one incident where the Pharmacist referred her to a clinic her in Texas that provide free services to uninsured people on Wednesdays and Saturdays.  Please try it, you never know what will happen.
