  1. We're using Genesis 2 18-24

    8 The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him."

    19 Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the field.

          But for Adam [g] no suitable helper was found. 21 So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man's ribs [h] and closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib [i] he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.

    23 The man said,

           "This is now bone of my bones

           and flesh of my flesh;

           she shall be called 'woman, [j] '

           for she was taken out of man."

    24 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.

    We also like Ruth 1 16-17

    But Ruth replied, "Don't urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. 17 Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the LORD deal with me, be it ever so severely, if anything but death separates you and me."

    I also like the part in Tobit where the father tells his daughter that she should regard her in-laws as much her parents as those who raised her. (chapter 10 or so). (sorry, don't have my bible accessible right now, so can't copy it out for you).

  2. We were at a wedding where the reading was from Song of Solomon.  It went on and on.  We were laughing, the groomsmen had tears running down their faces trying not to laugh.  We now refer to it as the "I love your pomegranates" wedding.  Nobody has forgotten it.  It's a good thing the couple moved away.

  3. Song of Solomon 2:10-13

    My beloved speaks and says to me:

    "Arise, my love, my fair one,

        and come away;

    for now the winter is past,

        the rain is over and gone.

    The flowers appear on the earth;

        the time of singing has come,

    and the voice of the turtledove

        is heard in our land.

    The fig tree puts forth its figs,

        and the vines are in blossom;

        they give forth fragrance.

    Arise, my love, my fair one,

        and come away.

    Set me as a seal upon your heart,

        as a seal upon your arm;

    for love is strong as death,

        passion fierce as the grave.

    Its flashes are flashes of fire,

        a raging flame.

    Many waters cannot quench love,

        neither can floods drown it.

    If one offered for love

        all the wealth of his house,

        it would be utterly scorned.

  4. Psalm 127

    Blest are all who fear the lord,

    who walk in His ways.

    You will eat the fruit of your labours,

    blessed are you and it will be well with you.

    Your wife will be like a fruitful vine

    on the walls of your house.

    Your sons around your table

    like young shoots around an olive tree.

    Behold. Thus will the man be blessed

    who fears the Lord.

    May the Lord bless you from Zion

    and you will see the prosperity of Jerusalem

    all the days of your life.

    You will see your children’s children:

    Peace be on Israel!

  5. Genesis 2:18-24

  6. Ruth 1:16-17

    But Ruth replied, “Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back.  Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live.  Your people will be my people and your God will be my God.  Wherever you die, I will die and there I will be buried.  May the Lord punish me severely if I allow anything but death to separate us!”

  7. We had a short passage from Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

    9 Two are better than one,

           because they have a good return for their work:

    10 If one falls down,

           his friend can help him up.

           But pity the man who falls

           and has no one to help him up!

    11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.

           But how can one keep warm alone?

    12 Though one may be overpowered,

           two can defend themselves.

           A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

    And Psalm 128, which I love:

    Psalm 128

    A song of ascents.

    1 Blessed are all who fear the LORD,

           who walk in his ways.

    2 You will eat the fruit of your labor;

           blessings and prosperity will be yours.

    3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine

           within your house;

           your sons will be like olive shoots

           around your table.

    4 Thus is the man blessed

           who fears the LORD.

    5 May the LORD bless you from Zion

           all the days of your life;

           may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem,

    6 and may you live to see your children's children.

           Peace be upon Israel.

  8. Ecclesiastes 3

    To everything there is a season,

    and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

    A time to be born, and a time to die;

    a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

    A time to kill, and a time to heal;

    a time to break down, and a time to build up;

    A time to weep, and a time to laugh;

    a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

    A time to cast away stones,

    and a time to gather stones together;

    a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

    A time to get, and a time to lose;

    a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

    A time to rend, and a time to sew;

    a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

    A time to love, and a time to hate;

    a time of war, and a time of peace.
