What Part of Science Studies Tornadoes, Earthquakes, etc.?

Basically natural phenomenon such as the ones listed along with volcanoes and tidal waves. Thanks.

  1. As disasters are different, they would be under different fields of study.  Some examples:  Tornadoes and hurricanes would be studied under climatology, meteorology or atmospheric sciences.  Earthquakes are seismology.  Volcanoes are vulcanology.  Both of those can be studied under geology or geophysics.  Tidal waves (or more appropriately called tsunami) are the result of earthquakes underwater, but the actual mechanics of the waves can be studied under oceanography, fluid dynamics or fluid physics, but are likely to be studied in seismology as well.

    All of these can be covered by a much broader term, earth sciences.
