What Proof is left that global warming is real?

Question

The past few years low temps have turned the average for the last 40+ years into global cooling.

CO2 levels have remained high, but the temps have gone down.

The only thing that is still holding true to science is that the Sun finished unusually high output activity a few years ago, but that doesnt really support human caused global warming/climate change.

Global warming is a component in a group of destructive forces at work ,it is not the only one , but  other factors which we are responsible for ,are rapidly making it the worst .

We are now  witnessing a mass   Extinction of animals and plants of Biblical proportions,equal since the disappearance of the dinosaurs.

Who cares what it is called or WHY EXACTLY  IT IS HAPPENING ,What or who is to blame

If we want to save ourselves as a specie ,we have to address

the problems

Apparently we can correct most of the destructive factors

with disciplines ,changes of attitude and habits.

A diminishing of the world population is essential especially in poor and densely populated areas.

And so far we can still do it voluntary,There may come a time when the governments will take harsh actions .

This is from ice cores in antarctica.  CLEARLY, you can see we went from 180 ppm/8*C below modern temps in the depth of the last ice age, to 280 ppm/current temperatures.

But recent co2 readings place us at 380 ppm, yet the temperatures have not risen to 8*C above modern temperatures.  Why not?

Why did the increase from 180 ppm to 280 cause a 8*C increase in temps while an increase from 280 to 380 ppm caused a .6*C increase?

James hansen, one of the biggest advocates of AGW said the changes in earths orbit are very insignificant, and cause virtually none of the temperature variations/ice ages.  He claimed co2 was the driver when it comes to ice ages.  Why cant james hansen tell us why temperatures have stopped increasing (relative to the ice age) while co2 continues to skyrocket?

There never was any 'proof' of human made global warming, only the corrolation of temperature with CO2.

Carbon dioxide does have some tendancy to retain heat, but this is very small compared to what some researchers are speculating.

Shapeshifter - you know the other thing that graph shows - When the CO2 level gets to it's peak, the temperate goes through a rapid drop.  It's as if having a high level of CO2 causes the temperature to drop.

True the temps of the entire world are what counts, but when you are taking the measurements and inputting the data; you would tend to have some impact as to the output, right?  Just like if it were your sandbox.

I read people posting to answer many different question the temperature is lower, this has been the coldest winter ever, global cooling, but where I live in Houston Texas it was one of the warmest winters we have had in the 8 years I have lived here.  Usually if freezes at least once.  I waited and waited but it never froze.  So just to clarify for the doubters the average temperature of the ENTIRE WORLD is the what the global warming theory is talking about not just where you live.  And from all of the projections I have read in the average temperature of the ENTIRE WORLD will increase 2 - 10 degrees over the next 100 years.  My money would be on the low end.  The reason people who believe care so much about the 2 degrees in one hundred years is because now we have the chance to do something about it.    Lets figure out what can be done about pollution and find renewable hydrocarbons and not argue about whether it is real because the simple fact is pollution affects the environment.

You mean what evidence, not proof. The evidence is all on the side of those who believe in anthropogenic warming. Solar activity has remained steady while temperatures have steadily increased. Natural sources of CO2 are not the primary contributors. There have been several years during the warming trend where temperatures temporarily dropped, leading skeptics to say that GW was over or an illusion. The temperatures rose again. You are mistaking normal variance of a small time period for long term trends. This is sophomoric, to say the least. The only way to prevent yourself from more extreme embarrassment when you learn more about science and realize how silly the mistake you have made is, would be to come back on this forum when the temperature once again rises and tell everyone that GW is real, and that you were wrong.
