What RE (Reenlistment) Code will a Soldier Receive When Separating At 20% Disability With Severance Pay?

Facts:

I'm getting out at 20% disability: Chronic Right Knee Pain 10% and Left posterior tendenopathy 10%

I'm getting severance pay, for 13 years of service

What will my RE Code be? RE Code 3 or RE Code 4?

  1. Most likely an RE-3 I would believe. I dont have the AR in front of me but I could follow up with you later this week. Is the reason strictly a physical discharge and not for misconduct? The other reason I would say RE-3 is because even with 20% you may still be eligible for enlistment into the Guard with a waiver. There is a waiting period though after discharge.


  2. It will be RE-3P Physical Disability...

    DO NOT spend that Separation Pay as the VA will recoup that money before they send you a single cent...

    Make sure you have copies of all your Medical records...

    You are entitled to them no matter what dumb

    Officer or Staff NCO says...Do not leave with out them...

    Register with the nearest VA Hospital...asap

    File a Compensation Claim with a Veterans Service Officer

    not working for the VA...

    Such as DAV,VFW County or State Veterans Officers...
