  1. Remington 700 SPS in .22-250, .223 is a good caliber too, but the .22-250 smokes it, anyone who says different doesn't know what theyre talking about.  the only bad thing is ammo is considrably more expensive, but if you can afford it, well worth it in my opinion.  But, you won't be sorry with a .223 either, good luck, you might also check out the .204 Ruger, I've been considering one of those too.  Happy shooting, and for the best scope for the money buy a Leupold, but Nikon and Burris are high quality as well.

  2. Depends..... The most cost effective Remington 700 rifle to use is one chambered in either .223 or .308.... The ammunition can be bought in bulk at real reasonable prices....

Of course those 2 rounds arent suited for all applications... like hunting big bears and the .223 is too small for deer....

If you are target shooting, varmint hunting or hunting smallish to medium size game then a Model 700 in these two cartridges are what should be considered....

  3. BDL in either .270 or .30-06.

  4. That depends on what you're planning to do with it, and also depends on your personal tastes.

  5. This entirely depends on what you are going to be doing with your rifle.  If its mainly target shooting, you might consider going with a fairy light weight caliber like .223 Remington or .243 Winchester.  These are light weight calibers, the .243 however is also an excellent game cartridge too.

If you intend on doing some hunting with your rifle, then you might consider starting with .270 Winchester or .308 Winchester.  The good thing about .223 and .308 is they are also military rounds, so you can get surplus ammunition fairly cheap at your local gun shows.

Settling for the Military Cartridges is a fine start.  Especially .308 because there are so many cartridge options for this caliber.  Its an excellent hunting cartridge.  In fact its my primary cartridge for everything here in California including Elk, in the Northern Areas and Southern Oregon.

If I only had one caliber to pick, I think .308 would probably be the one.

    Good luck, and happy shooting.

  6. G'day mate .223/270/308/30 06.then select a very good scope.cheers mate

  7. For doing what?

My personal fav is the .300

  8. .223

  9. Depends what you want to hunt, or shoot. If you want to hunt small game and shoot targets at short distances get a .223. I you want to hunt larger game (not very big game like bear) then go with a .308. For very big game get it in 300Win Mag

  10. i would recommend the .270win.  not that expensive and a fast accurate round. usually run about 15$ a box for 130 or 150 grain.

  11. it depends if you are hunting for deer if so get the 270

  12. Look at getting a .30-06, as it is one of the most widely used catridges in North America.  You can get light varmint loads all the way up to big game loads.  Ammo is easy to find and no more expensive than any other.

Excellent choice on choosing a Remington 700.
