In regards to suspension, brakes etc. I'm not really looking to make it faster, I have another car for that, I'm just looking to improve handling and stopping and such. Thanks!

  1. As is usually the case with cars the answer is "yes with enough money".  The new (post 05?) STIs user larger hubs and therefore the wheels and any hub components (or suspension components like the aluminum A arms) will not fit unless you replace the whole hub.  If you are talking simply springs and shocks, then yeah they'll fit.  Again with the brakes, you can't use newer STI brakes without replacing the entire hub in your 06.

If you want to try WRX brakes you'll need the brake rotor, caliper, the caliper mounting bracket and sheild from the WRX.  At that point you're probably better off buying a brake kit, unless you have a cheap source of WRX parts.

In general places like COBB or Rallyspec sell great packages to improve your cars handling and stopping power at lower cost than it would cost you to cobble it together from stock WRX/STI parts.

  2. First good job on working on the suspension.  Too many people overlook it and go for power on the N/A's and it's hopeless.  Anyway Compatibility gets a little tricky because of the subtle changes they made in the STI from 05.  Pretty much nothing from an 05 and up STI will fit your car.  Springs and shocks from all GD WRX's and 04 STI's will fit.  Rear swaybars are also compatible.  Front swaybars are shaped differently so they won't fit but I have heard of people using the 25mm Tribeca front swaybar on their 2.5rs's so that's something to look into.  So as far as the Cusco goes it will not fit.  There are bigger and better units out there than Cusco though, just not for your car.  WRX and 04 STI brakes as a whole kit will fit but that's a lot of work and money for not much gain.  A set of good pads and stainless brake lines will improve your brakes a lot so I would start with that.  Anyway look to rs25.com for great info on your car and also try giving some companies a call.  Rallitek is a great shop local to me and a guy named Sean really knows his stuff about all Subaru's.  He's always happy to talk cars with anyone so I would try giving him a call to get some better exact info on compatibility between models.

  3. for better handling except suspension I put better LSD, but since yours 2.5i I dont know if its worse it...
