  1. I wouldn't worry too much about security with utorrent.

Cos think about it, you can only download those files if people are seeding,

and if there are viruses or spyware in those files, then those people wouldn't be seeding, now would they?

I've been using utorrent for a while now and I never had any problems.

  2. Use Avira antivirus free edition.

    Its working great.

Or else you can try avast free editon which has seperate module to monitor p2p (peer 2 peer) softwares.

  3. Kaspersky Internet Security  2009 8.0

CCleaner is not an Anti Virus program it's just a cleaning  program.

  4. Peer Guardian 2 by Phoenix Labs.--->privacy software

    Firewall such as zone alarm.

Anti-virus such as Norton, Kapersky, or AVG.

    Antispyware such as Spybot.

    Added:

Peer Guardian 2 is an ip blocker that takes lists of known bad ip's and blocks them.  There are malware, ad, and anti-p2p companies among the available block lists.  It is not perfect but it is the only countermeasure I know of that is free.

Alternatively, you could use a private proxy.  There are a few free ones you could use but finding reliable ones is a problem.  In addition, free proxies are going to slow your connection down to a crawl.  Think sub-dialup.

You could pay for a high speed anonymous proxy but that isn't free...

Peer Guardian is your best bet if your worried.

Disclaimer: Don't download things that you know are protected by copyright.  There are plenty of free alternatives out there.

  5. Purchase a McAfee Security CD from Office Depot.

  6. The best way if you have Virtual PC http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloa... or VMware http://vmware.com. Install Utorrent in your virtual PC and you can test it in your virtual before use it in your main computer. So suppose there's something wrong with the torrent file like virus, malware and so on, your main system will not be effected
