  1. Tell them to try to get license plate numbers and call the cops.

  2. The only time they do not have to stop is if there is a median dividing the lanes. Try and get license numbers or have the police park near by and watch for a day or two.

  3. Drivers are always inpatient.

There is similar situation always in NY and some drivers do not care because they're impatient.

    According to State Law,

    1. Vehicles on two-ways without median suppose to stop when school bus flash stop sign or red light unless driver signals OK.

    2. If two way were seperated by median, and if flashed school bus was on lane on westbound while others traffic on eastbound does not apply.

    3. All one way or all lanes must stop if bus was flashing red.

While I was walking along five lane street called 5th Avenue, school bus flashed RED/STOP sign when it came to Girl's Academy on left side and front door on right, however drivers including city buses, taxis just sped by them, ignoring the sign.

Also, there's good website if you know the licence plate number.

Also according to news, this website has helped lots of police track down the illegal drivers.

You could also complain about specific drivers who does not obey the law, etc.

RED LIGHT on school bus count as STREET TRAFFIC LIGHT.

  4. In the first place, driving 100 mph ANYWHERE in the US is illegal.  If this is a commonplace occurence, you can call the pollice and ask them to keep an eye on this stretch of road.  They may or may not respond, but, that is pretty much all you can do about the other driver.

Secondly, the laws about school buses vary from state to state.  In California, for instance, the cars on the opposite side of a multilane, or divided road do NOT have to stop.

  5. Tell him to write down the time, date, description of vehicle passing, description of the driver and how many in the car. Give this to the bus driver, or report it to the police in a written statement. That's about all you can do as a citizen. If this is a regular occurrence where  you live, the I would get a parent to suggest that police occasionally patrol that area for safety reasons.

  6. If they go by in opposite lane, and the road is a divided road (median, barricades) then the cars going in opposite direction do not have to stop.  If they are speeding then they could be stopped for that.  If you feel that speeding, even on the divided road, is a safety hazard, and it is continuous, then contact your PD and see if they can set a motor cop in the area to watch and issue citations.  By the way, in most areas, the bus driver can take plate numbers, and contact authorities.

  7. Federal and state laws state that it is unlawful to pass a bus when red lights flash. It is also unlawful to go past a bus in front of you when lights are flashing unless there is a median separating lanes.. According to Iowa State Law, you can get your liscense suspended or revoked immediately if found guilty of such an offense. If it happens again, get the lisence plate number.
