Question:

What Should I Do (Interview or Scholarship)?

About a month ago I got a call saying I was a finalist for this shcolarship, and I scheduled my interview for May 31 at 10:00 am. This scholarship is VERY prestigious, and it's for a full ride, and the benefits are ridiculous (internship, summer program, etc).

Today I found out that I WON another scholarship, which is nowehere near as good as the first one. However, in order to receive this one, I have to attend the awards ceremony on May 31.

Comparing the two scholarships, I may win the first one granted I do well during the interview, but I've already been guaranteed the second, which really is nowhere close to the first one (I think it's only for like $2000).

So what should I do? Go to the interview for the first, or take the guaranteed for the second? (btw, the first is prolly worth a total of $50,000, assuming I win)

I still don't know what time the awards ceremony is for the second though...so attending both is not yet an option.

  1. Did you ask would it be a problem with rescheduling the interview?

If not have faith and confidence in yourself that you can ACE the interview...That sound like a great opportunity in comparison to the 2k joint.  Also you might want to find when the award ceremony is with finding out whether you can reschedule around the time of the ceremony.

But if not just go for broke and knock out the first...I BELIEVE YOU CAN DO IT....STAY FOCUSED

  2. I think u should go ahead and get a scholorship and try to be somebody i wished that my parents got an perfect job then i they would have enough money to put my in a great school.

  3. GO FOR THE FIRST ONE -- YOU CAN DO IT!!

If you don't believe in yourself then no on else will either!  You have already proven you have what it takes to get there -- no go the next step and go on the interview!

That is my biggest regret.  I did not have the confidence to compete with those who I THOUGHT were better than me; no that I look back I KNOW I could have competed and WON!  They had nothing more on me -- just more confidence.

I WISH YOU THE BEST IN THE FUTURE!

  4. Go for the $50,000 but this is up to you, don't let Y!A affect your decision this is up to you...make sure you have no regrets though...just know that you are in a great situation. Good Luck with your decision

  5. You're young this is no brainer. What's $2,000 when you can get $50,000. Take the risk young man and believe in yourself. You may be pleasantly surprised at the results.

Remember this: those who don't take risks will never reap the true rewards life has to offer.
