How do I approach people to get to know them? What if everyone thinks I'm weird cause I'm not making enough effort in getting to know them or talking to them or introducing myself? What if THEY'RE all weird, and don't talk at all?

  1. People will be training you so you know how to do your new job, so don't worry about no one talking to you.   Just introduce yourself, be friendly, don't gossip and learn how to do your job.  It will be a fun experience so just enjoy it and be yourself!

Good luck at your new job!

  2. 2 things:

    1) Listen - Try to impress them by listening intently to what they have to tell you, and not by trying to show them how much you already know.

    2) Ask lots of questions - It demonstrates a desire to do things right, and will cause you to learn faster.

  3. You're putting too much pressure on yourself. It's natural to be nervous your first day, but don't let it worry you so much. No one is going to expect you to be perfect or anything near it. Take everything one step at a time. Think about what you're doing before you do it. Don't do anything that can endanger another person.

As for how other people are, that's just a part of your work life that you will have to get used to. Everyone is different. Just because a certain person does not speak to you does not necessarily mean that they do not like you. All people are raised in different ways and act differently than you do around other people. Take each person as they come and don't force yourself or ideas/opinions on anyone else.

And the best advice I can give you about conversing with people in your workplace is to never, ever discuss politics or religion.

    Have fun!

  4. Get to know who's who in the zoo. Especially the top management.

Get to know the people who will be most helpful to your career path.

Show a positive spirit. Show that you are willing to help.

Ask many questions. They don't expect you to know everything.

Do not badmouth your previous employer, your school or anyone else.

People are not stupid. If you badmouth someone then they will assume you will do it to them as well.

If someone is not introduced to you, introduce yourself - this shows initiative.

Above all, get to know the business as fast as possible and ascertain what your role will be in making it a more productive enterprise.

Beware of traps. Some jokers might tell you to do certain things just for their amusement. Get someone you can trust to soundboard such things first.

    All the best.

  5. Relax.

You first must concentrate on the job. If you don't perform you won't have a job. Working is not a popularity contest, it is a means to an ends.

If your boss sees you talking too much being tooo social and not working... you may lose your job. So relax, and focus on the tasks you are given. Socialising comes later.
