What Should I Eat Before A Run?

Right now we are training for the up coming Cross Country season and we do 7 to 6 miles per day which is 30 miles per week and i was wondering what would be best to eat before and after the run? Some of my fellow runners say eat a banana before the run and a nutri grain bar after i dont know which one to eat first should i eat something else?

  1. Eat a banana about 1-2 hours before you run since they help prevent cramps. Eat pasta the night before.


  2. Eat pasta before a meet (the night before), that's what my team is advised to do by our coaches. Drink plenty of water. You guys run 6 to 7 miles a day for practice?! We run like 3!

  3. Keep in mind that you won't get any benefit from eating less than three hours before running.

    Eat lots of carbs, avoid anything with lots of grease/fat.

    Eat enough vegetables and fruits.
