I need a quick answer. I dont know what to do. I went over to my neighbors house and their front door is wide open. There dog was barking at me. I pet the dog and stood there for a few minutes. I even rung the doorbell. No one answered. I dont know them to well. I dont want to just walk in and scare them or get shoot. What do I do? ANd I really dont wanna call 911 because it might not be an emergency.

  1. Sounds like maybe you should look up the nonemergency number for the police and tell them your concern.  Or you could just be patient and make sure someone didn't just run to the bathroom right before you walked up.

  2. call 911 anywaqy it might be for real

  3. I would shut the door, go home and call their house. They may not have shut the door all the way and the wind blew it open.

I would wait at least a day before calling the police.

  4. This seems scary, but if it were me I would call them and if they still didn't answer would get help from a friend first check it out.

  5. Knock really loud and shout a couple good "Hello's." If no one comes to the door, the neighborly thing to do would be to care about their safety - or at the very least the safety of their home since it's open to intruders; call the police.

  6. Call 911...if it's not an emergency then great but if it is and you don't call it will be bad.

  7. well you might want to look in their back yard to see if they are away from the house. And ring the door bell. Maybe open the door and ask if everyones alright. and if they answer then no problem. but if they dont then wait awhile and then ring th door bell. and possibly go in. and if they try to shoot you..run.

  8. If you have their number, call.  If not, look up the non-emergency (non-911) number for your local police and report it.  Then, keep an eye out (from a safe distance/location) to see if anyone suspicious is going in or out of the house.

  9. Don't call 911.. just call the police number.. and have someone come out and check it out. You don't want to get in trouble for tresspassing by entering their home.

Also before making the call.. might not be a bad idea to check out the backyard?

  10. If she has a husband there doing the hipped ey dippidy lol so I wouldn't check the backyard then wait if you live in a local area with stores etc close wait 25 minutes then go next  door if shes elderly  then go in NOW

  11. call 911!!!! The same thing happened to me. And nothing happened for like three days. Then I called 911. And it was to late. So just freeking call!

  12. Phone them... see if someone picks up..  if not get another neighbour and both of you go over. someone might have had a heart attack if they dont answer or a stroke then you need to dial 911 immediately and give them directions and the address so take someone else with you.. first try to phone if your neighbour is just out in the garden she or he should hear it.. then take someone else. ring the bell and call out if still no answer both of you go in and look in all rooms.. don't be afraid if anything happened nobody will be hiding in the house any longer just see if someone needs the ambulance if so dial 911 and stay there until they come give them the address and tell what you can see if the person is injured or if the lips are blue.  if the person can talk.. tell them what you can see.. . shortness of breath ...  heart attack most likely.  an injury.. tell them if there is an injury you see.. and get them to come asap if something happened
