What Should i Get the Canon 30D or the 40D?

Question

Im looking For a new camera for my photography stuff. and right now im stuck with two camera's and i dotn know which one to buy. Can you guys give my some pro's and con's for both of the camera's if you guys have use both of them and please give me some of your recomendation.

oh and im also looking for a Video camera. can you guys also give me some suggestion on that ? some that is around $1000.

You may want to buy the 40D ... apparently the 30D is not that big a deal when compared to the 20D ... the 40D has some major advancements in technology that make it worth the extra $300 or so

In the realm of video camera's stick to the ones that use either mini-DV tape or have a hard drive on board.  If you want broadcast quality video, you will have to look for a video camera that has three sensors like the Canon XL-2 or a comparable Sony

The nice thing about the 30D is that you can get it on ebay for $600 or less. The 40D does have some nice advancements over the 30D but is also $500 more (that'll get you a quality lens).

This probably the advice you will get from most professional photographers:

If you already have a good lens(s) and external flash, get a 40D. If not, get a 30D or even XTi so that you have some money to spend on lens or a flash. Camera body is one of the many factors that impacts image quality. Your lens is more important than your camera and your skill is the most important of all. So don't put all your eggs in one basket. Get a cheaper body and spend the rest of your money on lenses and photography books, or lessons.
