  1. Yeah, more than Likely I'm leaning to Catalan

  2. Most people in Spain speak Castilian Spanish.

Other languages include Catalan, Galician, and Basque.

  3. It sounds to me like it's Extremeño, from the Autonomous Community of Extremadura (located right along the border with Portugal). They do indeed have a really peculiar way of talking there- they even have their own language called Extremeño as well- its use is slowly declining as more and more people use Castilian in everyday speech- a trend that's the opposite with the rest of Spain, as in different areas, such as Catalonia and the Basque Country, their languages are undergoing a revival with more and more people using it.

Laydlo: Catalan is spoken in Catalonia- i.e. Barcelona, in the Northeast near France.

And it's probably not Gallego either- seeing as it's widely spoken and Galicia is not due west of Madrid or due east of Portugal.

And RK: in the USA they generally don't teach the Castilian dialect- they mostly teach Mexican. Most people studying Spanish here in the States give me a weird look when I pronounce certain things and use Vosotros.
