Which TV set has the best picture quality? A sales assistant recommended Samsung for top picture quality. But what do you all think? I want to buy a large flat screen telly - say 40" - but don't want to spend my money on a low quality set.

  1. They are all very good these days but the Sony Bravia series takes some beating for quality and reliability.

  2. I also like Samsung but Sony are good.

This one seems good spec for price though:

If wall mounting buy a wall bracket that will tilt slightly for better viewing.

  3. Samsung do have nice picture quality. The contrast ratios are very high that makes the screen light up with the LCD glow.  The samsung le40r87bd / bdx is very high quality and cheap at that too.

  4. samungs are the cheapest but for picture go pioneer or sony

  5. These are the top 10 LCD Brand in decending order:

Sony, Samsung, Sharp, Toshiba, LG, Mitsubishi. Panasonic, Philips, JVC, Hitachi

I wouldn't recommend getting an: Insignia, Olevia, Wesstinghouse or Vizio.

The very best being Sony and Samsung of course

You spend a some time researching specific LCD models before purchasing one.

Check out sites like amazon.com, CNET.com. crutchfield.com, and yahoo shopping, and read some user reviews!!

Some features/specs you should look for:

    1080p

    120 hz

    low response time

    high contrast ratio

    game/movie mode

As for the Best Models, (Picture quality, features, etc)

these are best tvs on the market/soon to be on the market are:

    Best LCDs:

    Samsung LN-52A650 ( also 40,46 inch)(1080p,120hz,50,000:1 Contrast ratio, 4ms pixel response time....this ones got it all!) -http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-LN52A650-5...

Cnet.com gave it an 8.0 rating, making it their top rated LCD surpassing the Sony XBR

    The new Sony Bravia lineup (KDL-52Z4100, KDL-52W4100, XBR 6, 7 and 8)http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stor...

    Best Plasmas:

Pioneer Kuru line(cnet's top rated tv) Pioneer Elite Kuru line (VERY expensive) Panasonic Viera, Samsung PN-50A650

  6. the aerial as to be perfect as well

  7. Samsung has definitely stepped it up this year. The sales asst. made a good recommendation.

I say start researching some brands. My suggestions would be Sony,Samsung,Hitachi and perhaps even Toshiba. My personal favorite is Sony, excellent quality products that usually last for quite awhile, but they can get pretty expensive. If you're looking to not spend too TOO much on a TV, you could check out some off-brands, example, Olevia..they have pretty good quality TV's. Just do some serious research on here and see what you like best.
