I have only had Thai once and I really didn't like it. I am going to try it again and was wondering if anyone had some suggestions on what to eat.

  1. I recommend you start with something that you used to your western taste bud first like mushrooms in coconut milk, tastes like mushroom soup with extra zing. Then move to fried rice, try pineapple fried rice, served in half pineapple! For fish, try ginger, steam or sweet and sour. Highly recommended for the latter. For meat and chicken, go for ginger ,black pepper or green curry. Make sure stay away from highly spicy or hot food like tom yam (hot soup). Or may be you can request for a milder version. Do not miss to order deep fried prawn or cuttlefish, the crispness will shoot you to heaven. May be you would like to whip up an easy to cook Thai dishes first, just to get used to the unique flavor.

  2. Everybody likes Pad Thai.  It's a flavorful noodle dish.  You might also like chicken satay as an appetizer.  A long piece of grilled chicken on a skewer with flavorful dipping sauces.

  3. Do you like spicy? that's the main of many thai dishes.

But actually the restaurant in the usa even if it said thai restaurant but it's not the true taste which we have in Thailand. here is less spicy and less taste.

I love Tom Yum Koong (sour&spicy shrimp/lobster soup)

the famous one is Pad Thai which easy to find (

    and eat) =]

and something i wanna tell u. thai people've never had "satay" with "peanut butter".

  4. Some of the most commonly found dishes in Thailand are:

    (** pad means stir fried)

    Pad Thai

    Kao Pad (Frid rice)

Pad Kra Pao (Stir-fried with Basil leaves)

Pad See You (Thick noodle Stir-fried)

    Nam tok (Beef Salad)

Tom Yum Goong (Lemon grass soup with shrimp)

Nam tok and pad kra pao are two of my favs.

  5. hello!

I think this time around you will enjoy Thai cusine!

    Hopefully =)

    I would recommend  "Pad Thai"

I love this dish! It is one of my F.a.v.o.r.i.t.e.s.!

Pad Thai is stir-fried rice noodles with eggs, fish sauce, tamarind juice, red chilli pepper, plus any combination of bean sprouts, shrimp, chicken, or tofu, garnished with crushed peanuts and coriander.

It is normally served with a piece of lime, the juice of which can be added.

    "Thai Spring Rolls"

    Heres a pic:

You can order this for an apetizar.

It is very tasty and very light

It looks somewhat like an eggroll but the with a spring roll, the wrapper is a rice paper

The end result is a much lighter taste.

The dipping sauce is delicious too!

    I hope that helps you!

    GOOD LUCK!

  6. If you're a meateater than satay is the thing for you. It's not too "different" - you can get beef or chicken and it's essentially just seasoned meat on a skewer served with sauce served with rice. You could also go for pad see-ew, which is a stir-fry of fat rice noodles with veggies and meat. Very simple but yummy, not too unlike Chinese noodles. Pad thai noodles is probably more a popular choice among Thai foodies but I think it's overrated and underflavored.

  7. Whatever you try...do try the Yum Yai salad too!  Yummy!

  8. Well... not everyone likes Pad Thai. My boyfriend is Thai, and I love love love Pad See You... which is Thai noodles in a lighter soy sauce. For someone not accustomed to their stronger flavours, I think you'd really enjoy it.

    Also, it's vegetarian! =]

  9. Tom Kha is a delicious spicy coconut soup. Absolutely my favorite Thai dish. You can get it vegetarian or sometimes with chicken or shrimp. Don't miss out!

  10. green curry with pork, or eggplant with pork

  11. 1) everyone always loves Yellow Curry, either with tofu or chicken. it usually has onions, potatoes, peppers, etc. it is really good over sticky rice

    2) my friends that don't really like thai that much still usually like clear noodles, either spicy or not

    3) my sister used to not like thai and always got chicken Satay as her meal when we went out.
