Question:

What To Look For With 2nd Hand Cars.

What do you look for when buying a 2nd hand car? I've never bought a car before or driven a car but I'm buying one and would like to know what I should look for? I don't want to be the subject of a "they saw you coming" joke so any answers would be appreciated.

Thanks.

  1. carfax report

    little miles

check for knocking of the engine

look for different shades in paint(usually means body work was done)

test drive to see how the trans shift(if you feel it shift hard get another car)

  2. 1) get a car history report

    2) take your mechanic with you to inspect the car.

    3) make arrangements with seller, to have it brought in to your mechanic (if he can't join you), to have them look it over.

    4) check with your insurance company first, before buying a car; give them a list of the types of cars you're interested in, their year and they should give you a list of rates, for each car.
