Me and my partner are going to his friends wedding, and it has been specified that the dress code is "black tie".. obv my partner will be wearing a tux, but what can I wear?

Never been to such a formal event before, not sure what colours are allowed/suitable, what style dress, what material to wear etc...

Any help would be much appreciated... Thanks :)

  1. The first one is your SAFEST bet. But the other two black dresses are equally as nice. The blue one is a definite NO! It is too show-girl does the streets! The colour isn't really appropriate and neither are sequins - sorry.

I would go for a full length gown if the invite has specified black tie. Below the knees is dressy but not dressy enough.

Try Monsoon. This one is lovely...

Although you should always check with the bride before wearing black or red to her wedding...common courtesy.

    This dress is absolutely fantastic:

But my absolute fave is this one - it flatters every shape and size and will really look great next to a guy in a tux. The price is fantastic for the detail and amount of fabric you're getting and the colour is amazing. This dress is timeless so it is an investment more than anything. You can wear it over and over again...even in 10 years time this dress will not look aged. Buy it buy it! God I love this dress...

    Good luck and have fun!

  2. A nice dress, but not white!

  3. Wear a crotchless latex catsuit, that will be appreciated whatever the dress code

  4. Its a formal and a little black dress would be perfect - I also agree that the first one is a good choice

  5. Not sure what you should wear but a tuxedo is eveningwear so shouldn't be worn to a daytime wedding.

  6. i dont know what would be best but i really like the second and the third one best

    xx gl

  7. Depends on where in the world you live! In South Africa mostly women wear cocktail dresses. In the UK that is very unusual - they usually go for hats etc. As the bride - that way you can't go wrong.

Dress #1 - would make your hips look big

    #2 - too glitzy

#3 - chavvy unless you are a spanish dancer

    #4 - too froo froo and 80s

The first Monsoon dress that Alex suggested is the nicest.

Never out-do the bride. Just go with something plain and simple.

  8. Cant go wrong with the trusty little black dress

  9. Just wear a black tie and nothing else

  10. dont listen to the first guy hes an idiot. you need to wear a FORMAL dress...

all colors are acceptable accept white

  11. I really like the first dress. It looks perfect, and I could definitely wear it again. Accessorize a little, but don't go to overboard. It'll also look good in a pair of great heels. The black colour is perfect. It will also match you with your partner, but without being to matchy..?

  12. The code for women used to be a long dress, but these days they can get away with anything elegant and dressy. Poor men!
