What Type Of Rat Is This?

Question

Here's a picture of my rat, Cuddles.

He passed away about 3 months ago.

I miss him dearly, and would like another rat that looks just like him.

When I first got him;;

I would just like to know if anyone knows what type/kind of rat he was.

Since I would like to get another one just like him.

His fur was always fluffy,

when he was a baby his fur was real nice and neat.

Then once he hit about, 6 months he was really scruffy, and even more fluffy,

which I loved. :] but if you have any idea, I would like to know.

Oh, he's so cute! I'm so sorry you lost him, it's always hard to lose a pet. I love rats - I once had 14 at the same time!

All pet rats are descended from the brown rat (Rattus norvegicus), also called the common rat or Norway rat. I assume you are asking what variety of fancy rat (the common name for pet rats) yours was, rather than his species, though. He looks like he might be a Rex to me - they have curly coats. There are also Rex varieties of cat and rabbit.

Your furry friend looks like a normal brown Norwegian rat.

awwh i am so sorry! he seemed really sweet but i truly hope you can find one just like him. Well i am pretty sure it is either a Norwegian Gray rat or a plain old gray rat.

Cuddles was a Norway rat (Rattus norvegicus.)  I hope that you find one as nice as Cuddles.
