I have tried to get my mom to let me go to school because she doesn't school me (Or if I am doing homework, hushes me when I ask for help when the TV is on) I only do Math and writing. I wrote a list of PROs and CONS, wrote a 310 word essay, begged, said why not just for a semester, and she said it's probably going to be a no (not definately) My dad said different stuff to me then he said to her, so we're gonna talk with him at lunch. What can I do to have her let me go?

  1. I suggest to give many many reasons to your parents like these.....

    1. I want to make more friends

    2. I want a better education so I can succeed in life

    3. I want to be on school sports and do their electives!

    4. I want to get a better education so I can go to college and make a lot of money!

    5. Try to put some humor into it and say I can buy you a Ferrari when I become a billionaire!

    6. and make sure you try your best in school because if you get bad grades your parents will take you out of school and home school you again! So yeeeee haaaaaa! p.s - also say I want to learn more subjects like science and Reading! :)

  2. Obviously your mom taught you to read and write well enough to communicate effectively.  And you are writing reports.  She is not neglecting your education.

You are better off at home. Really you are.  You have the safety of a family who loves you, you are free from gangs, drugs, unsafe relationships, poor quality teaching, poor quality curriculum, and a myriad of other things.

The final decision is up to your parents.  They know what is best for their child.

  3. Tell your mom that going to a school is very important for social development.  If we weren't naturally a social species we wouldn't be able to speak or listen to others.  Also tell your mother that she needs to work on the listening aspect of her social behavior.  You might obtain more knowledge from homeschooling, but there are parts of going to school with kids your age that will develop your mind in other ways.  What happens if your homeschooled for your schooling?  You will probably score high on a test, but you won't know how to handle yourself in the business world because you lack important social development.  Don't let your mom's attempt to hide you from the real world stunt the social growth you need for it.

  4. homeschool is not for everyone. I don't think you need a list if you feel it is not the best thing for you. If you are going to continue to be homeschooled, I suggest you look into an online charter school where you can get teachers to assist and help you when needed. That way, you will not need help from mom.

  5. First, don't whine or cry. Try to act like an adult and be willing to tell her you will leave high school any time she decides she doesn't like what  is going on with you there.

Your mom may be scared of losing you. She needs lots of hugs an assurance that she's not going to lose you and the relationship that you have with her.

    Warm Regards,

  6. First of all, if it were as simple as that to convince anybody of something, we'd all be in agreement on every issue. Keep that in mind.

Second, do you know why she doesn't want you in school? These are the issues you need to address when you talk with her.

Third, why do you want to go to school? From your post, it sounds like it's for educational reasons. It sounds also like you've already addressed this to her. If she won't let you go, read the book Teenage Liberation Handbook. It'll guide you on how to educate yourself without your mom's involvement. You'd be like Thomas Edison or Benjamin Franklin or Abraham Lincoln or many other people of the past who educated themselves and did quite well. I know it may not be what you want to do, but if she won't give in, then you need to do the next best thing for you, which would be to take full responsibility of your education. You COULD be doing science and history and geography and foreign language if you chose to--there are plenty of resources out there, nothing's stopping you. She doesn't have to teach you.
