  1. At home watching it happen on T.V. with my girlfriend.

    Something I don't think I'll ever forget.

  2. Meeting my son at the coffee shop by his university campus

  3. Sleeping , My wife woke me up and put on the TV and I could not figure out what I was looking at. She said it was the twin towers and I told her she was wrong because there are two towers. We then watched the second tower fall.

  4. I like this question, Well I was at school in grade 3 and my teacher said "Did anyone hear about planes or something?"

And then we moved on and we we're confused until I got home and watched the news and I was very sad about the attack

  5. I was in a boring Religious Education lesson. I remember it being very hot. We were told that there was a missile fire'd into the towers, and that USA and Britain were under attack.

Was fully expecting a military escort home, that never happened.

Didn't find out till i got home what actually happened, couldn't believe it.

  6. I was cleaning house and flipped on the computer when I saw that the first plane had struck. The first thing I thought was , "I hope it was an accident." I ran to the TV and saw the second plane had struck. A few blocks from here is a hill where the towers were vaguely visible and a small crowd gathered to see the smoke. That night the commuter lots were full of cars that were normally gone and word began to trickle in that this one and that would not be returning home. It was days later when home alone I was looking over a list of the missing when I found the face of my cousin in law. A young man with two babies who worked at the Marriott there. He was responsible for saving many lives that day, but not his own. http://www.september11victims.com/septem...

My daughters and I volunteered at the Spring Street rescue workers center, sorting donations, just to overcome the feeling of helplessness.

  7. I was at school in the 4th grade in brroklyn and at that time school started at like 8:47, I heard a few kids talking about a plane hitting a tower and  Iwas like wtf?

Then our teahcer told us kinda what happened, the principle was on the intercom informing us of what was happening, the office in our school was PACKED, and i mean more than the max. it can hold, of parents trying to pick up their kids, and every 5 seconds they would announce students names telling them they had to go home.

My parents never came and picked me up during the school day but they just got me at the normal time, I went home checked the news and EVERY CHANNEL except Cartoon Network was showing the coverage.

  8. remember the day clearly--with friend when I heard, 'numb' sort of day.. un-real..

  9. i was cramming for an exam. a friend was like "did you hear about what happened in the states?! a plane crashed into the twin towers in new york!"

and i said "YEAH RIGHT; nice try, distracting me. ive got an exam to study for."

and later i found out it wasnt a joke.

  10. i was at school, in music class, our teacher came and got us earily and we went to the classroom to turn on the tv only to find that another plane hit.

  16. i was at work and i finished at 2.30 which i believe was shortly after it happend and when i got home i turned on the tv and thought it was a film showing. then i realised.... : (

  17. I was the captain on a tug boat. We were tied up 10 miles south of vinice, Louisiana (about a mile from the gulf of mexico.)  I woke and walked up into the pilot house to look around. I tunred on the V.H.F. radio to listen to the barge we were working with. I heard someone talking about a plane flying into a building. I just thought that it was two vets talking about the war or something of the past.. Then I turned on the music radio to listen to some music. There was people talking about planes flying into buildings on the radio too.

I then turned on the T.V and it was the same. I then turned on my cell phone and called my wife at home. She told me we were under attack. I looked out and saw ships turning around and returning to port. The birds didn't even sing. It was dead out side in no time. Not a ship or small boat in sight. this was un- heard of for the mississippi river's main enterance. I felt so bad. I wanted to be home with my family the worse kind of way.   YES I REMEMBER SEPTEMBER 11th.

  18. was at work and a patient had the telly on

we all sat down and watched it

    awful

  19. This might seem totally surreal but I promise you it is true. I was on a nudist beach - predominantly g*y - in Ibiza. I came out of the sea just as my sister called my mobile. She works for an Australian bank in the City of London and she told me that a plane had flown into the World Trade Centre. I remember thinking that it was probably a 'weather' plane or something. Anyway, what was it, 45 minutes later she called again to tell me about the second plane and that she was calling from the basement of the building, where everybody had been instructed to go. They were scared that there might be a similar incident in London.

I remember being on the beach and hearing all these ring tones, as people were contacting their loved ones to let them know what had happened.

I can also remember a couple of big, black American guys who were laughing, totally oblivious as to what had happened and if I'de been closer would have told them that they needed to 'get to' CNN a.s.a.p.

The 11th was in the middle of my fortnight and up until that time, we hadn't even turned the tele on in the apartment, but after that, I don't think it was ever off.

P.S. It's a story for another time, but I also flew out to Ibiza on the day that Diana died.

  20. I was having coffee at Denny's.  Went back to the car and heard my usual music station talking about a small plane that hit the Trade Center.  Then I was listening to the radio as they saw the 2nd jet hit.

The announcer went ballistic.  Made some kind of comment about we are being attacked and were at war.  The world has not been the same since.

My elderly mother says Pearl Harbor was the same way.  They heard about it on the radio too.

  21. I was getting my one day on the job mentorship.  It was terrible, I didn't learn a thing. The mentor could not focus on the task at hand.

  22. I was watching cartoons and my dad rushed in to change the channel. I didn't see what all the fuss was about. I was only 10 and had no concept of what was going on and how it would shape the world of the future.

    Good question

  23. I remember it well.  I was at work.

Someone came in and asked if we had a TV.  He said that he heard on the radio that a plane had just hit the WTC.

We thought it was a joke, but we turned on the TV.

Sure enough, the news channels were showing the plane crash.

Then they cut to Bush sitting in front of kids trying to read a book about a Pet Goat when Andy Card came in and told him.

I remember thinking, "Why does he keep sitting there?"

The minutes ticked away and they seemed like hours, but Bush just sat there.

I thought, "Why doesn't he get up and excuse himself to do his job."

    But he kept sitting there.

The TV kept going back and forth between NY and Florida.

    It seemed so surreal.

The towers were smoking and the President was just sitting there doing nothing.

"Why won't he just get up, excuse himself, and do his job?" kept going through my mind.

I remember thinking that something seemed strange about the whole thing.

It was as if Bush was using the innocence of the children to hide some sort of guilt.

As the day progressed, I saw the towers fall.

    It was so strange.

They fell straight down just like in a controlled demolition.

I remembered a picture from my Physics book that showed how towers fell over and not straight down.

    It was all so strange.

Nothing seemed to add up the way it should have.

    Bush just sat there.

  24. I was at home watching on BBC News 24.

  25. i had my toddler son fast asleep in my arms because he was ill, i watched it all

  26. I was in the car with my mam.

  27. I was a junior in highschool when 9/11 happened. I was home sick that day and I did what I normally did when I was home alone sick, which was watching "Good Morning America" (normally I don't get to watch it because I'm out the door within the first 10 minutes of it)  and they were interviewing Ted Kennedy and then they cut to the WTC's North Tower on fire, I thought it was an accident at first. I saw what appeared to be a piece of paper go by (it was that fast) and another explosion, they showed the replay from other angles and it turned out to be the other plane. My mom came home just as the Pentagon was on fire and we watched in the living room as the first tower collapsed, then my dad came home early (for the first time in my life, that's when I knew it was beyond horrible, for my dad to be home early was a shock in itself), my cousin's b-day was the day before and she was coming to our house anyway for her gift. Where she worked there was no tv so when she got here, it was the first time she was seeing images of what happened. My aunt and cousins (who live a block down) came over and it was the first time in a long time that we were all together. I was also worried that something was going to happen in the city (I live in the Chicago suburbs) so I thought the Sears Tower was next. What a horrible day, I thought the world was ending. I still remember what Diane Swayer was wearing that day. Odd that I still remember that.

  28. Why do people keep asking this question?

  29. Hi, I was on holiday in France at the time-Attempting to interpret the news-I was gutted that low life would kill so many innocent people-obviously wrecked my holiday-but my thoughts/sadness went to the people in the buildings and the relatives left behind-Catch them responsible and make them pay.

    Richard

  30. I was im my school's library and I turned and looked at the T.V to see the second plane hit the building live on air!
