What Would Be The Costs, In British Pounds, To Open Up A School In India??

I am looking to open a school in a rural area where there is poverty and where children don't have access to education. What would be the estimated costs of opening up such a school???

What would be the estimated costs of running the school on a yearly basis. Please give an estimate in Pounds £.

You can attract a lot of undesirable characters here so be careful. To open up a school you will of course need to have land and a school building and teacher/teachers at a minimum. You can pick up a 1 bed apartment in some parts of India for £5000 and less, so dependent on the size of your school (I suspect just 1 classroom) that  sort of figure should suffice for the building of a basic school/classroom. If of course you want multiple classrooms, broadband, toilets and showers etc  it will of course cost a lot more.

As for the cost of hiring 1 teacher, I cannot imagine you getting the best teacher to move to rural India, I suspect you will rely on someone on the rural community that can teach?

At this stage I suggest you go out there and find your rural community and ask around.

Be aware this will require ongoing funding. Also be aware that Intrest rates for deposits in India can be as high as 10% so if you have a ballpark figure of £50,000 I would suspect that after costs of buiding the school...... this would be more than enought to (via interest) maintain the school. Off course depending on its size. Hope that helps a little

i suggest you go to india first and find your area of interest.

get in touch with ground realities...things are not as easy as they seem.
