From yahoo News about the Discovery By The Evolutionary Biologist S. Blair Hedges.

Facts About the Snake Stranger than fiction: The full grown adult snakes are reported to be less than 4 inches long & the discoverer named it after his wife 'Carla' .. Why?!

Have you ever seen a snake tinier than this?

Just wondering!

  1. Wow, cool snake!

I wonder why that Hedges seems to find the world's smallest reptiles and amphibians. Does he have some sort of secret instrument?

The locals have a right to be annoyed, as they had found the snake earlier, but their name 'the thread snake' has already been taken and besides, the scientist only gacve the snake the scientific name. The common one may be chosen by the locals.

Anyway, I agree with the above answerer, the amount of species being discovered still today is quite large, and there are probably a ridiculous number of species still yet to be found. It just makes me smile that nature won't let humans see it all just yet!

  2. That our world is full of undiscovered life. That there are many niches yet to be identified in nature. That we are still faced with people not recognizing and accepting the necessity of having both scientific and common names for creatures.
