-Scaffolder: Working with child, showing them how to make clay and supporting them when they need help.

-Reinforcer: Praising child and keeping interest in the activity.

-Friend: Talking about the activity, joking and boosting self-esteem.

Support:

-Use new words in sentences so child can learn the new terms.

-Modelling the play to enhance the learning objectives

-Make sure tools and instructions are suitable for the childs level of understanding

-Making sure the environment is suitable-eg: does child work better sitting or standing.

-Praising child's efforts.
