Question:

What Would You Do With Your Son's $3,000 In This Situation?

Ok so my son who started his senior year in high school this week was caught by the school for cheating on a assignment with another student.

I asked him if he did this before and he said for the past 4 years and he even had students pay him for it. He showed me some shoe boxes in his closet and inside was rolled up cash that added up to almost $3,000

I was taken aback. If you were in my shoes what would you have done with this money?

  1. I would make him donate it to charity. I surly wouldn't let him keep it!  That would be teaching him it's OK to make money by doing something wrong!  It's great he has the ability to do the work and impressive that he's saved his money, but he needs to use his talents in an honest way.  If he gets to keep it, it's like you're telling him it was ok to use his talents to make money dishonestly.  He didn't do the other student any favors or himself really!  I'd make him donate it himself and watch him hand the cash over to whatever charity you guys choose!

  2. he earned it (unfairly) but he still earned it

so you should let him keep it

  3. I would make him make a list of all the students he's let cheat off of him/cheated off of them, and 1.) make him give the money back to them, and 2.) give the list of names to the principal because cheating goes both ways

  4. give it to the school as a contribution and then make him pay the moeny off

  5. Put it in savings

  6. Donate it to charity, put it in savings for your son to use later in life, or use it to pay for college.

  7. HE DID EARN IT, MAYBE NOT IN A GOOD WAY.  HE HAS BEEN SAVING IT SO THAT IS A GOOD THING ALSO.

I WOULD PUT IN A REAL SAVINGS ACCOUNT AND LET INTEREST BUILD UP ON IT.

    HOPE THIS HELPS!
