What Would You Pack when evacuating?

What would you pack when evacuating? I am evacuating early early tomorrow morning. What would you suggest bringing? There is a high chance my house will be damaged? Also what would you bring to entertain yourself when u are evacuating to a place where there wont be electricity either? Anything to entertain myself while in the car? I have a cell phone!

Alot of batteries for various electronic devices. A car charger for your cell phone. Make certain it works. Bring all of your medicine that you might need, any prescription medicines. If you have pets, bring them some food and any medicines they use. Bring your birth certificate, social security card, any important papers like that. Make certain everyone with you has those.  You dont want to lose them if your house gets destroyed. Money-credit cards or debit cards-checkbook-drivers license-If you have a computer and dont want it to get ruined bring it with you, just leave it in the trunk. If there is no room for that-and if you have very important stuff stored on your computer open it up and take the hard drive out and bring that with you. Its not as hard as it sounds and when you get another computer you can hook it up and transfer whatever is on it to your new computer.

Just think of basic common sense stuff.

Where are yall evacuating too? I live in south alabama in a city called Andalusia. We're gonna get some rain and stuff but nothing like new orleans. something to think about if yall arent sure where to go.. If you have a psp, or gameboy would be really good, or a mp3 player.. take some paper and some markers.. just some stuff to pass the time.. : )

I fortunatly don't live in a hurricane danger zone, but my mom always told me that in case of a fire (or any evacuation situation) she would pack her photo albums and her pets first and foremost. Photos are irreplacable and mean so much...and pets are just a given ;)

We are in the same boat. I'm evacuating from St. Tammany parish tomorrow a.m. I made a list of everything I'd need and worked my way down it. I won't list all the items, but you'll need the basics: batteries, flashlights, candles, lighters, water, packaged foods, medicines, first aid kits, clothes, hand sanitizers. As far as entertainment: books, magazines, cell phone, PSP/video games, iPod, car chargers for any electric items, puzzles, board games, and most importantly, PATIENCE AND PRAYER. You'll need a lot of it. Good luck!!!!!

I would pack a supply of water, medication, flashlight ( batteries), matches, first aid kit, high protein bars, magazines, clothes, blanket, map, battery operated radio etc. Hope this help you out.
