very important for the image of the airline. a pleasant flight attendant makes an airline seem friendly and hospitable. an unpleasant one makes passengers feel like their business isn't appreciated. it's just as important for regionals. i was on a flight once w/ a fa that seemed more like a schoolbus driver, but i've also been on several flights w/ very professional, pleasant fa's who seem proficient in both the service and safety aspects of their careers. it's great for the company's image and it brings respect to the profession.
