What a good vehicle for me? plz help

I want a vehicle that gets good gas milage for its make. I want something with room in the back for a dog and kids, leg room. I wouldnt mind a small suv like a rav4 or something, any ideas. Oh im in the US by the by.

Lets break it down... would you prefer domestic or import? Since you want good mileage its best to go with a 4 cylinder. But how much power do you need and is it enough? Since you said the RAV4, take a look at that. But ask yourself the other two questions to help narrow it down.
