What about Adoption?

How old do you have to be to adopt a child.

Do you have to be married?

How much does it cost?

Can you get help when paying for adoption?

How does the Kid (or kids) get to your house? *(do you pick them up or does someone bring them to your house)

Do you have to live in a house or can you live in an apartment?

Do you have to be a graduate of high school?

Can you be in college when you adopt?

Do you already have to have a room and clothes for them or what?

Thanx in advance

  1. My mom own a agency kidsfirstadoption.com

    Check it out.

  2. You do not have to be married.  If you need more help check out Kidsfirstadoption.com.

  3. It all depends on the agency and their rules but the criteria is all fairly standard. Usually a single woman adopting a child has to be in her 30s and have a steady income and stable home life. They do extensive research into her past and you need people to write letters of recommendation on your behalf. If the child comes from another country, you often go there to pick them up. Same is often true for children already in the country. Sometimes employers help with the legal fees or you can do a search for organizations that help cover some of the initial cost. Usually though, they want someone with enough money to care for the child so if cost is a worry for you, this could be a mark against you. Look at websites for different adoption agencies in your area. They usually have  FAQs area where a lot of your questions are answered.

  4. Hi, My Mom recently adopted, from Guatemala.  Um the US is the most strict and I am guesstimating 20,000...you don't *have* to be married, but you must have a good job record, (and record period), and proof of a stable environment to raise a child.  (They'll want a portfolio of your house.)  You also have to be I think under 40.  I'm not sure about adoption assistance, but you can get a payment plan, like any loan.  I think my mom and stepdad's payment plan is like 5 years, but Guatemala ended up being closer to 35,000.  You could like in a nice apartment, in a nice neighborhood and probably qualify.  They will follow up and want pictures for as long as a year after.  You don't have to be any college experience, but I would imagine without a high school diploma, it will be much harder, and probably impossible in the US.  I hope some of this helps.  You should be able to google for legit agencies.  And then double check there backround just to be sure and make sure there reputable.  Well I hope this helps somewhat!  Good luck!

    2. No.

    3. Depends.  There are different adoption procedures for different kinds of adoption.  Cost is dependent on the type of adoption process.

    4. Sometimes, particularly if the child could be considered "special needs".

    5. Usually you pick up the children, either at the hospital or the adoption agency.  With foster-adopt children, I am not sure.

    6. You can have a house or apartment.

    7. I don't think it is an absolute requirement that you have a high school diploma, but part of the screening process is to ensure that you can financially support a child.  Having a diploma is a big factor in the ability to provide that financial support.

    8. Yes but see #7.

    9.  It's a good idea to have some things prepared, of course.  I wouldn't go buy a whole wardrobe or anything because children will have their own likes/dislikes and may like the opportunity to do some choosing themselves.
