Baccarat is the simplest of all table games. This is because the player has no decisions to make during the play. The rules govern all play.Your only decision is whether to bet on "player" or "banker". My advice to you is to take a position and bet it until it loses. Then take the other position until it loses. This way you will always be running with the flood if it comes.  In Las Vegas many casinos now have mini-baccarat which can be played for 10 to 20 dollars. The back room baccarat games generally require $100 to much more minimums.

Baccarat is a very simple game.  Since another answer has given you a link to a set of baccarat rules I will not repeat them here.    

Things for the beginner to know when entering the baccarat room in a casino:

In the game of baccarat, the customer makes only the decision of which side to bet (player or banker hand) and how much to bet.  The play of the hands is formulaic and is settled by the dealers.  They will tell the customer when it is time to take a card according to the formula.  If you have the shoe, do not draw a card until you are told to do so.  Offer it face down on the layout; the dealer will take it from there.  As a beginner  player, you are not expected to know the rules for when a hand is hit or stands.

Baccarat is often a very high-limit game.   It attracts high money players.  You may find one customer betting $25 sitting next to someone betting $250,000.  Everyone is welcome if they behave themselves.  It is a quiet and sedate game, not at all like craps.  

The Baccarat room is intentionally intimidating to newbies to keep the riff-raff out,  We do not want tourists, gawkers, and panhandlers making our big-money players uncomfortable, but if you are ready to play the game, you will be welcome.  

Buy in at the table just as you would at a regular blackjack game.  You are not required or expected to play every hand.  Sit, relax, let the ambiance of the baccarat room settle into you and you will comfortable playing the game.

Because this is a game for big-money players the customers are regualrly well-dressed and well-groomed.  Dress comfortably, but nice.  For a little while you can be one of "the fancy people."

On the casino floor there will probably be a mini-bac game.  That is the same game with abreviated procedures and lower minimums and limits.
