Question:

What about an NRL at Ipwisch

There are heaps of supporters in Ipswich which is known to be a breeding ground for NRL players and more than anything there is a literal population boom in the area? I think this would be even more viable than a central coast team. The Local team - Ipswich Jets already a good name etc. What you think?

  1. never mind about brisbane ,what about us up in far north queensland,i live in bowral but i up here in trinity beach north of cairns for 4/4 of the season so i only get to see the mighty roosters on tv,I HAVE A DREAM that the roosters move up to cairns but thats not going to happen so i just dream on,but they do need an nrl team here, south east queensland have more than enough,

  2. It's a good idea in principle, But I think the NRL are looking at moving an already established team (such as the Bulldogs). I can't see any of the southern teams wanting to go to Ipswich or anywhere up in QLD for that matter, so the central coast seems to where it's headed.

Although Ipswich is rapidly growing, their is still a stigma of it being a small redneck town (I don't agree).

  3. I think it would be good to have another team but then they would have to make another team after that one to cancel out the whole having byes. I think they should have a southern western team, like an SA and WA united team to boost football in those areas.

  4. The Bundaberg Bulldogs has a better ring to it. Central Queensland has needed a top grade team in a top grade competition for a long time. Local, state and federal government funding combined with the (newspaper) reported 11million dollar relocation sum from NRL would help with stadium costs.

  5. I think it would be c**p you already got 3 teams

  6. No mate, next you'll be wanting Redcliffe Dolphins in the NRL, bring back the bears and play them from Bluetongue, the NSWRL still own the NRL, Qld still hasn't worked that out!

  7. A great idea. In many ways the league should be looking at expanding rather than just relocating. The more games being broadcast should mean an increase in TV revenue. Its in an area that supports league so there will be a ready made audience.

  8. Yes, that would be a good idea as they need a new team in qld.  They should move the team out of melbourne and relocate to a league stronghold, perhaps Ipswich, or Central Coast NSW or in Brisbane itself.

  9. Absolutely. South east QLD is fertile ground for rugby league, and can definitely support another NRL club. You just have to look at the crowd numbers for Broncos and Titans games.

If the NRL is smart they should seriously consider it.
