I'm 18 now and I'm so sick of school, I never made good grades but I have great test taking skills, never failed one. I past all my OGT's (Ohio grad. test) and I was wondering what kind of job I could get if I dropped out my junior year and got my GED

  1. I quit school and ended up in the Marines....Got my GED... spent 20 years on active duty then went to college at age 44.

    I am now 52, I have a master’s degree and am pursuing a Ph.D....

Every day in my undergrad classes I felt that I had really missed something not only educationally, but socially by not completing high school.

I encourage you to stay in school. You will benefit by it.

  2. You can get about the same type of jobs. It's mostly the same especially with just working. As for college most universities don't like them. If worst came to worst you could start a community college and move to a university. Also if you join the military certain career fields wont be open to you with a GED that would be with a diploma. You could check out some online schools too. They give diploma's that are accredited and you can usually transfer the credits you've already finished in high school. Also with an online school you can finish a lot faster because you just work at your own pace. If you were really really determined and had nothing else to do, and transfered those credits you could be done within a month or so. You do learn too though! its not a piece of cake.

Penn Foster is the one I chose. It's about $1,200 but thats cheaper than most with a better curriculum. They don't force religion like most home schools do.
