What about lids for recycling?

My family recently started recycling and as we go along, I find myself with more and more questions. (I am still waiting for a response from Waste Management about their guidelins, specifications, etc.)

For soup cans, plastic milk bottles and juice jugs, do i need to remove the labels from these items? And also what about the lids? Do pop cans need to be crushed?

Any info is helpful, thank you!

all that material goes in my recycle bins, lids ok, no, cans don't need to be crushed unless there are space issues.

also as stated, aluminum can be a good way to make spare money.

In my township, there is no need to remove labels or crush cans. The lids and caps should be removed because the material is picked up in garbage trucks and a sealed bottle makes a big bang when compressed. Further, the lids and caps may not be made of a recyclable material. Small plastic items need not be marked with the recycling triangle.

Do you have a recycling center to go to that pays?  They will take the pop cans crushed or not crushed, here it is 75 cents a pound.  they also take tin cans the consider bunk, if it is just a bag full they will take it where you take the cans, take those lids of the bottles and jars and throw that in there too.  They don't take glass or plastic you will still have to put them out to the road in the recycle bin or take it to the city recycle bin and place items in the right place, I hope this helps. e
