Is there anybody that can tell me something about studying abroad?

I'm writing from Italy, and I would like to know if there's the opportunity to make an exchange or something similar...

Please answer only if you have useful pieces of information... Thanks!

  1. There are many opportunities to study abroad.

The two main questions concern your academic level (Are you high school or college?) and where you would like to go.

For university students, you need to find the college or university you are interested in attending. It's best to have several choices. Then you can directly contact their international student office or department.

For high school students, the best way is through a recognized exchange program. I don't know about all of the ones that operate in Italy, but a list of those certified to operate in the U.S. can be found at www.csiet.org. I'm pretty sure AFS, Rotary and YFU are there however.

For general information about becoming an exchange student, check here: http://www.exchangestudentworld.com/

    Good luck!

  2. You can view colleges in StudyPlaces.com - they generally have information about colleges and are soon coming with a foreign  student exchange section in the site.

  3. It depends what level you are at.  If you are the equivalent of a "high school" level, it is probable that your school may have some kind of program.  If not, you can do it yourself in the summers or you can wait till you hit the university.  Most universities have some kind of program or set up for studying abroad or doing exchange studies.  You can look online for good websites/organizations that help assist you in doing so if you do not wish to go through your university.

Where do you want to study in?  The world is so broad.  It is great.  I've done it twice, but always through my school.  I hope you do it.  You will have lots of fun.
