What about oyster card for children?

My daughter is 13 and we'll go to London on holiday. I have some questions:

1) I read there are free of charge oyster card. Is it only for the buses?

2) How much is a 7 days travel card for tube for children?

3) Does she need a photo?

4) Are photos necessary also for adults, for a 7 days travel card?

you can buy a 1 day travel card. 1-6(zone and includes free bus aswell) for only £2 and its only for under 15 year old only so your daughter will qualify.

Just to support the answers you've already had and stress how much easier and cheaper travel around London is with an Oyster card. Also, our kids loved them and using them themselves!

Have a great time. Worth going to Hyde Park at tea-time to see all the workers heading home or de-stressing, especially the roller bladers down by Hyde Park Corner. I was fascinated last week.

they are not only for the buses. buses tube network depending on where you go trams and a think maybe DLR.

you can get your child an oyster card, it wil be way cheaper. and probably at lest £10-£12

for oyster card yes. for the travel card your child probably wont but you might need proof that your child IS a child depending on how old your child looks

4) Are photos necessary also for adults, for a 7 days travel card?

no

My advice, get an oyster card for both you and your child

1:kids under 15 are free in buses but must produce an oyster card

2: you can't have a weekly child ticket without a child oyster card and if you get one zone 1-3 is around £14

7 days for adult is £28.40 for zone 1-3 no photocard and you will have to get an oyster card.

you won't be able to get an kid oyster card as she is only in london on holidays and it takes 2 to 3 weeks to get the card.Application is done at the post office
