I have the hole dug, it is 8 foot by 8 foot. I want something to give good support so the ground does not sluff off during a rain storm, or when my sprinklers come on.

  1. If you want the hole to stay open for further construction, you should be able to get four 4X4 posts and sheets of 3/4" thk. construction plywood for a temporary retainer.

  2. This would be dependent on the height of the wall.

Is this just a square hole with dirt on all sides?

Will there be any kind of floor on the lower side? It could require much more than just a wall. Footings, steel reinforcement, more thickness.
