  1. I think solar power will be the core of energy supply in 100 years.  It is cheap once the installation is in place. However the big power companies will fight it all the way.  The genesis of the movement of conversion to solar power will begin in private homes and companies in the Southwest of the US and spread across the nation as the technology improves.

Most people will be driving electric cars powered by batteries charged from the solar panels on their homes roof, this will help to control carbon emissions.

Wind power will also be utilized.

  2. Solar energy will play a large part, as will wind power.

  3. I think harnessing the natural power of wind, sun & water would be the top priorities since they are in abundance, we don't have to destroy habitats by drilling & having oil spills, or by strip mining to destroy vegetation, or costing people their lives in cave-ins or due to black lung disease.

Over 75% of our planet is water & the majority of it used to create power could be returned from whence it came, so the source is renewable.  (Heck while we're at it maybe we could also work on desalination techniques to supply more fresh water.)

The sun is not projected to run out of energy for thousands of years, so using solar power also looks attractive - plus at least some things are already being powered by the sun..

Wind power might be a bit sporatic, but if enough time was spent on it I think we could get a better handle on it.

The trouble is that current big energy providers don't want to spend extra money to investigate new sources.  It will only be when enough of the people who need reliable, affordable, renewable energy confront the current mindset that anything will be accomplished.

    Ah, there's the rub . . .
