  1. Obviously, Australia will not be keen to allow into the country those that have nothing to offer and will only be a burden on the rest of us (taxpayers).

    Humanitarian intake aside.

Sorry about the blunt language, but that's the reality of the situation.

Having said that, there are certainly opportunities for Seniors to migrate to Australia provided that hey can show that they have the wherewithal to adequately support themselves and, basically, provide a good reason as to why Australia should let them in. "Last Surviving Relative" is one of those gateways.

For all of the answers to all of your questions regarding immigration, visas etc, follow this link to the very informative government site :

  2. That depends where you are from . We have agreements with several countries that allow you to live here. You will recieve the pension from your own country which I believe comes through Our country and Your country pays us. Just like Australians can retire in Other countries that have the Agreement. Don't listen to those who think you are a drain on the Country. you will add to our resources in buying a home here and our produce electricity etc  not sure about medical you may need to get private insurance although we have the reciprocal agreement with many countries for emergency treatment. I know a couple of people that have retired here, they love it They have bought our cars a home etc so it all adds to the well being of keeping our country prosperous

  3. If you plan on retiring, please make sure you are quite wealthy. It can be expensive depending on where you live.

  4. I believe you can but basically need to be extremely wealthy, healthy and maintain private health insurance. Seems from the website it is only for 4 years.

There are other options like family reunion but they view older people as a potential drain on resources due to lack of employment opportunity and increased health issues. Usually immigration is restricted to younger people so they have time in the workforce to contribute to their own retirement by pay taxes over a fairly long period of time. So they require that you can self fund lifestyle and health treatments plus contribute to society.

Do seek advice as there are so many visa options that there even be another one more suitable.
