Question:

What about skate-boarding to work ?

Hi,

I just spotted a whinge from a car driver about folks cycling to work.

Check out Chiswick High Street at about 9am.

You will see yours truly skateboarding down the middle, missing & overtaking taxis, gas guzzlers, buses, with a shoulder-strap breifcase and a suit & tie.

This is amusing, as at the office, I have a named parking space.

There is parked the skateboard in the middle.

Gods, I am over 50, and perhaps should not be doing this, but I can beat the traffic, and stay in one peice !

Any notions ?

Bb

  1. Good for you - keep it up!

    ~x~

  2. See the chicka on the bike next to you? yea, thats me, wave next time!

good for you! keep it up, lets show these idiots we dont need their polluted ol cars, or their gas prices!

love the whole parking space thing tho, would love a pic of that! my work is so stingy they wont even get a bike rack for us to lock our bikes to, i lock mine to the fence =[

  3. Well if you are over 50 & can stay on that thing, good on you,

  4. I feel that this will end badly unless you choose to end it .

  5. it seems to be the better way now days ( you know the gas prices ) you might have to leave an hour earlyer

  6. Carry on brothah.  If I lived in your part of the world I'd offer to give you a lift (just grab the bike rack) on the way home for the uphill portions.

People forget - the roadways weren't originally designated for automobiles - it's why drivers need a license to operate on them - whereas we don't need a license on a bicycle, skateboard, running shoes, horse or para-sail.

Sure some areas have set ordinances supporting our national addiction, but in principle the roads originally belonged to Bb and his skateboard.  (Controlled access highways are the exception, generally.)  If anyone wanted to pursue legal recourse against "Jaywalking" or banning skateboards from the roadway - they could win.  It will cost some $$$ though.

Ignore the sidewalk suggestion - you're liable for pedestrians as they are more vulnerable than you.

Gasoholics... your time is limited.  "Enjoy" it while you can!

  7. It's illegal to skateboard on a street like that regardless. But if you are getting away with it and not being a hazard then you may as well carry on.

  8. I hope you have brakes! I would like to see some old dear with a white stick step out from behind something, stick leading of course, right into you. You might then understand why it's illegal. I bet your a middle manager, who does not let your get away with anything.

  9. yea walk your a menace on the pavements
