What about the corn crop this year?

Is the corn crop destroyed by flooding this year or is there still going to be detasseling work i really need to know so thanks for helping

  1. Well, so far the whole crop isn't destroyed (however, this varies by the part of the country you're referring to...). In Illinois, Iowa, and Indiana there is a lot of flooding going on. This has, unfortunately, damaged a lot of the crop. In some low-lying or near-water areas, more of the crop is damaged.

    Also, seed corn (which is what gets detasseled) can't be replanted in case of flooding because it must be carefully monitored by professionals who certify the plants. Therefore, if it's been underwater for too long it will die and not be replanted.
