  4. It sounds more like a girl name. Maybe that's because I grew up with a girl named Hadley, she went by Haddie sometimes. I love it for a girl.

    Hayden

    Harmon

    Honor

  9. I don't think it's a great choice for a boy.

While it is a surname choice, and thus should be gender neutral, Hemingway's wife was known as Hadley.  (It was actually Elizabeth Hadley Hemingway, but she went by her maiden name.)

That makes me think that it skews feminine.  It also ranks in the Top 500 for girls in the US, but is not ranked for boys.

How 'bout Demetrius, Rohan, Orion, Kieran or Atticus?

  10. I think that Hadley is a very cute name!

but i love the name Rosalie (most people i ask don't like it though)

  11. that's a good name.

    hollis

    urijah

    anderson

  12. Is it for a boy or girl? To me it's girl, and kinda cute.

  13. umm idk about that one

    how about nathan...or adrian...or jamie

idk those were just some random names

lol how about gaylord from that one movie "Meet the Parents" lol

    just kidding

good luck with finding a name

  14. Hmmm...for a boy? No. It is, in this culture, a more feminine name, or has become one, and I wouldnt want the boy to be teased. Hope this helps you out! --Amanda

  15. Nathan? its cute and i believe when hes older he can also use Nathaniel

  16. Sounds like a p**n star name to me.

How about Fortinbras?  A strong name, with great positive literary connotations--Fortinbras was the example of successful manhood in Hamlet.

Better yet, it shortens to "Fort."

Best of all, how many Fortinbras' do you know?

I really like Fortinbras.  The "S" is silent, by the way.

  17. Ummm...its Okay.

    what about:

    Evan

    Trent

    Aiden

    Eric

    Jordan

    Chris

    David

    Kevin

    Todd

    Shane

Sorry, I cant think of any other ones but those :(

  18. Well Hadley sounds kinda     y if you ask me. Hayden would be better.

  19. I love it for either s*x, a very strong appealing name

i think all these people here though have probably swayed your liking for it for a boy. but hey who cares what people think?

  20. I love it, it's original and not one of those dumb trendy names that everyone uses! Also, how about Nathaniel?

  21. if it is a girl Abigail is in the top 5 and jacob and joey is in the top 5 boy name

  22. Is it like Hayley with a 'D' or is it a long 'A?'

    If it's like Hayley with a 'D', it's not bad. But it's it a long 'A' I don't like it.

    And I totally think it's a girl's name.

  23. The best part of Hadley is that backwards it is Yeldah.

    I like Fortinbras.

  24. That's a nice name, but you have to think how children might taunt him, calling him "badly", "hardly" or something like that! It also sounds like a girl's name to me, maybe because it reminds me of Haley. Maybe a spin-off on it, like Hayden has a nice ring to it. But I still kinda like Hadly, it's reallly different and has a nice ring to it!

  25. Sounds like the name of some furniture store or something...or plumbing company.

Kids would make fun of it for sure.

  26. I dont like Hadley. How about Payton, Gavin, Harley, Gage

  27. Well Hadley rhymes with sadly and therein lies a potential problem from childhood taunting etc.

Instead of giving you random names, let me give you some tips:

    1. a name which when combined with last name (and middle and last name together) that makes for an odd number of syllables will more likely have a pleasant sound. Rock Hammer versus Rockland Hammer.

    2. choose a name which does not provide for a an acronym,  when the initials are used, that would be a source of discomfort.

    I.M.Hogg

    3. choose a name which is easier to spell and pronounce than not. Saves irritation when others first use the name. Rock versus Rochlanderson.

    4. choose a name easily identified as to gender. A boy named Sue wont do.

    5. if the last name is a common one, like Smith, avoid a common first name to provide less identity problems.

    6. choose a name which does not interfere or cause discomfort with the last name (that includes rhymes) . Rock Smolder ain't good. Rock Jock is worse.

    7. choose a name which combined with the last name does not match an infamous person (or even famous). If the last name is Hitler, a first name of Adolph would be a disaster.

    8. choose a name without reference to unseemly things or has an ill suited meaning. Rash Thompson would be abusive for a child.

    9. choose a name that is not in the top "choices of the year" including the past three years. If everyone in the age group is also named Benjamin, the moniker will lack distinction.

    10. And lastly, do NOT choose a name which is the same as a living member of the family, unless the name is of significant importance and pride. As Misname, Jr. would encounter difficulties.

If you take a list of names that sound good by themselves and filter it against the ten points above...you will eliminate a lot of not-so-good names and the remainder at least will not be harmful. Frankly, it's a shame we can't pick our own names once we become adults...many a child has been wounded by parents who thoughtlessly applied a name that sounded good at the time.

  28. I don't like it. Check out the first hit on a Google search for Hadley. I have placed the link in my source. I wouldn't name a boy a name that pops up as a female name at the top of a page on a Google search. He'll have to explain that for the rest of his life as will you.

  29. ehh not hadley for a boy, but he is your child.

    best of luck!

for a boy i like Bryce, Emmet, Conner, or Tyler.

  30. I think it's very masculine sounding, but I've only ever known of girls with this name.

    - Michael

    - Zachary
