i was thinking red for a splash of bold color, or pale blue i like the way the pale blue and dk brwn compliment eachother. my husband wants to stay with earth tones and neutrals. he is leaning toward an olive green (like our current sofa).

  1. i love both your ideas, but i think pale blue would look really good with the sofa.

  2. the red would POP, but I have to say, go with the blue.

jeez, who is throwing out all the thumbs down?

  3. light bage or red.

  4. I would agree with your husband -- brown is a warm tone so other warm tones would go best with it. Think gold, greens, yellows, red (but like an orange red), other autumnal colors. If you're wanting to do blue, use a warm blue like teal (blue + green) or turquoise (blue + yellow).

  5. No I say go with the pale blue. The color with your sofa will really make the room pop! I think you have the right idea, stick with it! Hope your room turns out great!

  6. I like a deep red with gold accents

  7. either red, purple, light blues, or a browny yellow, lime green looks good with brown colours you should try terra cotta its a really nice orangey colour

  8. I have cognac colored leather furniture and dark honey-colored parquet flooring.  I put persian carpets (with a lot of red) on the floors, and painted the long dining room wall (visible from the living room) a farmhouse red. Dining room has travertine floors.  All wood in both rooms are dark.  Since I have huge picture windows, I put simple white matchstick bamboo window coverings, so we can see all the nature outside, but have some respite from the sun.

I love earth tones.  Our walls are a rich cream, and the wall leading into the hall is a caramel, with more Persian runners.

This all ends up being sort of Old World, but without all the sponge work on the walls.

We have tapestries on the walls, they bring it all together!

Forget the throw pillows, they aren't necessary.
