  1. Its always hard to tell someone which guitar they should choose.  Several questions come to mind, with the first being how much experience do you already have playing guitar. If it is very little, find someone who has played  quite a few years to help you at the store when you make your purchase.  Also, beware of salespeople.  While there are some very good ones, alot of them are only after the best commission they can get on a product, and will tell you that particular brand is better.  One problem when selecting guitars in this price range, is the consistency of quality, such as fit and finish, and most important, how the frets are set in the neck and "dressed."  A lot of the lower end budget guitars have sharp corners on the frets, frets not properly set in the fretboard, and some ive seen over the years with twisted and warped necks, (brand new and ready to be sold no less!) and thats where someone with experience in guitars will be able to help you out.  I have a personal preference of Fender over Ibanez when it comes to acoustics, but either one of the two you have selected can be a fine instrument if the right one is picked out.

  2. The guitar picks you. You need to reflect on what you're looking for. What sound are you looking for? Which one fits your lifestyle? If you decide to go rock band, which one would withstand the wear and tear of traveling? Which one sounds better to you? Do you like the shape of one, as opposed to the other? These are the questions that'll help you decide.

  3. Start out with anything that feels good in your hands and you play easily...and sounds good.

Don't get expensive or fancy for your beginner.

Then after you progress with your interest and you get better, you can graduate up to a really nice instrument... In my opinion, nothing beats a Martin...
