  3. you could have them make a card or bake a heart cake even make a song or poem

  4. Bring heart shaped sugar cookies and let the kids put icing and sprinkles on them.

Sponge paint using heart shaped sponges.

Make heart shaped valentine's day cards and decorate them with markers and glitter.

  5. Cut out hearts from red paper

  6. Valentine Marble Painting

Use a heart candy box bottom; cut paper to fit inside the box.

Dip marbles into pink and red paint. Drop marble into the box and have children twist and turn the box. Add snowflake glitter....really pretty when complete...

    I´M A LITTLE VALENTINE SONG (Pre-K & K)

Sung to: "I´m a little teapot"..........

I´m a little Valentine, Red and white.

With ribbons and lace, I´m a beautiful sight.

I can say I love you On Valentines Day...

Just put me in a envelope, and give me away.

    WINDOW HEARTS

Coffee filters, Paintbrush, Red tempera paints, and water.

Water down red tempera paint in a container.

Cut a heart shape out of the coffee filter.

Then take the paintbrush and paint the coffee filter with the watered down paint.

Painting only parts of it will give a tie dyed affect. When it is dry hang them in a window.

Lacing Valentine Hearts (For Pre-K-and K)

    Materials:

The front of old greeting cards, yarn, tape, hole punch.

Punch holes around the edges of cards about half inch to one inch apart. Cut yarn for approximated lengths for lacing. Tape one end of a piece of yarn to the back of each card.

Children then lace yarn through then holes in the cards. When they finish, trim the remaining yarn ends and tape them to the back of the card. (lacing will be easier if you dip one end of yarn into wax or glue---or wrap it with tape to make a "needle".

This can be done with any Holiday such as Easter for Easter cards, Christmas, etc.

    Valentine Place Mats...

Give each child two pre-cut place mat size ovals---out of clear self-stick paper.

Remove the backing from one of the oval sheets; have each child place hearts cut from red, pink, white, etc. tissue paper (don't know if construction paper would work as we've only used tissue paper) Last --- sprinkle on glitter.

Complete by removing the backing from the second oval --- and carefully placing the sticky-side down on the decorated oval.

    Game: Kiss Me Quick -

Hide Hershey Kisses around the room and have race to see who can find the most kisses. (large group? break children into smaller groups with multiple hunts or in different areas)

Instead of Simon says play St. Valentine Says...

    Heart Bean Bag Toss

    Before Play:

Cut a large heart "target" out of paper or fabric. Use a marker to make a large X in the center. Make or purchase three bean bags.

To play - place the heart on the floor and a strip of tape an appropriate distance away. Six feet for young children farther for older children. The players form a line and take turns standing with their toes on the tape. Toss the bean Bags one at a time attempting to hit the X.

Musical Valentine Pass (Pre-K- gr. 3)

Prepare a large heart from construction paper before the party. Put the children in a circle, and play silly Valentine music while they pass around the paper heart. The person holding the heart when the music stops wins a treat. Bring plenty of treats--for many plays...

Share Their Heart Game (younger children)

Before you play--make half as many 24" hearts"---as there are children in the group. Tape the hearts to the floor in a large circle. Play music and have the children walk around the circle of hearts. Stop the music intermittently. When the music stops, have each child stand on a heart with both feet. More than one child can share a heart. Children may hang on to one another in order to stay on their heart. Do not eliminate payers-- instead--eliminate hearts. Start the music again. While children are walking, remove one heart. Eliminate a heart each round-until it is impossible for children to use any fewer hearts.

    Valentine Shaving Cream Art

You Need: Non-menthol Shaving cream, Red food coloring, Paintbrush,

White paper, smock or old shirts.

    1. Add a drop of red food coloring to a baseball-sized pile of shaving cream.

    2. Mix this with a paint brush. Wear cover over clothing as the food coloring will stain clothes and hands.

    3. Paint with the shaving cream on white paper.

  7. Lace doilies, glue, paper, tape, and chocolate kisses!

glue a paper heart to the doilie and tape a chocolate kiss on to it and write 'happy valentine's day!' on it. they'll love this sweet snack!

  8. make valentines day cards for their mums dad's brothers sisters or caregivers, I always use to love this! have like red confetti and pink maybe and cut out some heart  shaped cards and get them to decorate then you write in the message they want! Goodluck!! x

  9. make valentines they can glue  color you just need to cut them out I was a preschool teacher for many years had one year olds schoolagers and three and four year old UI have a four year old grand daughter also

  10. Making valentine cards for Mummy and Daddy is a perfect solution for the under-5's. In my experience, they just love to make something special to give. Lots of sticking is always a favourite activity anyway!

You could even pre-cut large red or pink heart shapes for them to use, or if you've the time, smaller hearts to stick onto pink or white card to make their own.

If you have baking facilities, then getting them to help make heart-shaped cookies that they can decorate afterwards, is time-consuming but they love to do them.

  11. I took a picture of each of the kids and then painted their hands on separate sheets of paper.  the cover says "not even ten little fingers can count the way I love you" - then one handprint, the picture, then the second handprint - kind of like a book.

Make a Clifford out of all hearts - a big red heart for his head, cut a pink heart in half for his ears, a little black heart for his nose and two white hearts for his eyes - cute.  Then read Clifford's First Valentine's Day.

  12. Make valentine's day cards.

Get the little heart shaped candies.

My favorite used to be like pin the tail on the donkey..

Instead you make a big heart with like a face and everything,

and make it have like a shirt, tie, and pants.

and pin the heart in the place it should be :D

  13. ask the parents first some religions don't celebrate holidays like Valentines
