What activities can i suggest to homeless people?

i work in a homeless project and could realy do with fresh ideas to suggest to are service users to make better use of there tme

maybe if possible..find out what they are interested in on a one on one level and help them find ways to pursue those interests...like driving an animal lover to a place that's looking for volunteers....bless you for your care and concern for others who are lost...

try to show them ways to earn money.

that would be both time-consuming and helpful for their lives.

Research on the internet something they enjoy and what they are skilled in  and put it to good use to help themselves and others.

To some of the other postings above - just because they are homeless it doesnt mean they are dimwits nor beggars nor only worthy of menial jobs.(everyone has at least life skills)

learn some skills which they can use for working legally so they can earn money not begging for money or food .

Ask them what they would like to be doing.  That is the whole point of service user involvement.  Just because poeple are homeless does not mean they are void of opinions or ideas.

i Would say recycling around the streets they might find products that are useful for recycling they would be helping the environment,i would also suggest the cleaning of a park or like we do here the beach area.Hope i helped,  good luck with making our world a better place!

They could walk dogs for a fee which will fit in nicely with living on the streets.  Fresh air and no one to care if they are clean or not. Dogs would not mind the pong.  They could always be on the look out for burglars, bank robbers and car thieves as these people would not notice a tramp or think they are being watched by one.

Could they help out in like an animal shelter?  It would give them something to do during the day and a sense of achievement when they help the animals, also it might help them to become involved in something they enjoy which would help their confidence and self esteem?

Suggest not sitting under a cash machine asking for spare change.

I mean, if I had spare change, I'd have no need to withdraw any more. And if they think I'm going to give them a tenner, they've had too much Special Brew.
