  1. My sister put my niece in Polynesian class and she is enjoying it! She is also in traditional Mexican dancing- folkloric and salsa.  My sister also wants her to do belly dancing. I like that my sister is exposing her to different cultures and dances. Especially since this country is becoming more diverse. If not dancing then try putting her in physical sports.

  2. soccer...it's great for kids of any age, both girls and boys

  3. i dont have a daughter (or son for that matter, because im too young for 1) but i have a cousin around that age.she does singing, dancing, art and plays the piano. i think shes really talented ;)

  4. My 8 year old daughter, is in a "swim team".

  5. Gymnastics :) She is good at it....AND she loves it!(THE MOST IMPORTANT THING)

  6. Well it depends on what type of character your daughter is. Dancing is good but if she likes to bounce of the walls, and jump up and down on furniture then put her in gymnastics. If she is a drama queen and always overreact on stuff then you should chose acting classes. Or if she likes to sing and play around then put her in a piano or flute lessons. The clarinet is good too. Swimming and ice skating is good too.

  7. I have my daughter working in some Asian factory where they make shoes and wallets. She thinks its arts and crafts, and I get some beer money out of it.

  8. Mine also did dance. This year (so far) she has done basketball in the fall, then Jr Cheer, then basketball again right now. Last week she started gymnastics too. When school lets out, she'll be going to a basketball camp for 3 days, and a softball camp for 3 days. She will be in softball which last from may to august here. Also she will be in swimming lessons again. I do whatever I can to keep my kids moving!! She also has been kicking around the idea of figure skating next year too and next winter she will be on the ski team. I don't agree that you can "burn kids out" by having a full schedule. They're still playing, having fun and being kids & at the same time learning hard work, discipline, and team work.

  9. my daughter does girl scouts, softball, soccer. She has also done dance, swimming and tubling classes. We've tried them all at least once. Everything but gymnastics and karate cause it cost more then we can afford. I agree it's important to get the kids involved in something.

  10. My 7 year old daughter goes to Brownies one evening per week. They do arts and crafts, learn first aid, go camping, etc. She also takes swimming lessons for 1 hour on the weekend. This summer she will play soccer. In the past she has taken dance classes, played T-ball and taken gymnastics lessons. She is asking for piano lessons so we might do that as well next Fall.

  11. just finished cheerleading.  now she's in softball. over the summer she'll go to a tutor.  after tutoring, she wants to do swimming.  we usually do one activity at a time. ...

  12. Riding, tennis, ice skating, self-defense, music depending on her interests. But whatever you do, be sure its only one thing and that it doesnt interfere with the family dinner hour which to me, is the most important thing.

  13. well i have a 9 yr old daughter and she is in soccer, girl scouts and she played one season of softball (she hated it) so we took her out. She wants to do karate or dancing so I may put her in one of those soon.

She was also in swimming lessons at age 7, she was on her second or third lesson by then.

  14. Depends on what she's interested in.  She should be forming some of her own preferences by now.  My son will be 7 next month.  He's in his 3rd year of piano lessons.  He plays soccer and basketball in the Upward program, but he's really not a great athlete.

  15. When my daughter was 7 she played softball.

  16. There are a lot of things, depending on where you live.  My daughter, who is only 5, has done soccer, dance, gymnastics, art classes, karate, one day activities (like tea party, themed activity), the local library typically has a day of age appropriate activities each week (and they are free), t-ball, there are so many activities.  The important thing is that you are not pushing your child to do things they do not enjoy.  The reason my child has tried so many activities, is to find what she is passionate about.  She just happens to really like dance, but she wants to try ice skating.  She has not done cheer, so she will try that some time.  Another thing is put her in Girl Scouts.  In GS, they have the chance to try so many different activities (if they have a good leader).

  17. swiming lessons

  18. We have a rule at out house.  My children are allowed to be involved at only one extracurricular activity at a time.  This way they don't get burned out from being to active in organized activities.  I think children should have plenty of time to just be children and play with others.  Between school, homework, church, and one activity, they are busy enough.  If you are going to put your daughter in an activity, give her several options and let her decide what she would like to do.

  19. She is in girl scouts and soccer.

  20. cheerleading

  21. art classes cuz it's not physical.

  22. We plan to do swimming this year as well as season tickets for the local performing arts center which offers children's programming and educational support.

  23. Try baseball, karate, Brownies, gymnastics, or swimming.

  24. Depends on what is available in your area.  It also depends on your daughter's personality. My daughter did gymnastics, karate, cheering and drama at about that age. (not all at the same time!) But there were other options - soccer, t-ball and piano - but she wasn't into any of those!

  25. Ok well i do cheerleading but i realized that if u do dance before cheerleading it is soooooo much easier cause ur flexible just get her in some cheerleading squad to cheer for like rec football!!!!  and she will be really good cause she does dance!!!!

  26. My 6  1/2 year old is in dance class, too. It's a combination of tap, ballet and gymnastics. She goes to that class twice a week.

I don't have her in anything else officially, but we often do art projects together and visit a paint-your-own-pottery store. I don't want to over-schedule her, as she has school as well. Too many "extra" activities can be overwhelming to a child.

  27. when my daughter was 7 she did piano all year and at various times she did swimming, ice skating, rock climbing, gymnastics, and an art class (obviously not all at the same time).  In the summer she did a drama camp for two weeks.

  28. cpmputer , other maughty and meee of course... caz i m the naughtiest....

  29. My 9 yr old is in dancing, singing, karate, basketball in the spring and soon will start violin lessons.

  30. Gymnastics and acting/drama classes.
