What activities or lessons can be done with my 2 preschoolers, using standard dominoes?

They are good with letters and phonics, and can count to 10 well, fairly to 20. They are 2 little boys who love learning, and we are using the Montessori style (similar to learn-thru-play). Activities that can be done "on the road" are good, too. Any ideas?

matching, the real way to play dominoes, science of gravity by lining them all up and knocking them down, how many can each build up without them falling down and then counting, who has more, who has less?

-Learn through snacks! give each child a pack of fruit snacks, an use them to count, for example, take two fruit snacks away, and count how many are left. (it might be helpful as they get older)!

-Be creative! Use crayons to draw something that expresses them. For example, tell them to pick their favorite color, and then draw their favorite things. (teaches creativity, and self-esteem [good to be them self])

-Dominoes can be used for adding and subtracting(counting the dots or just the whole dominoe.) and adding some and taking some away.

-When i was little i always used to build towers with the dominoes.  As far as education, that probly doesnt help, but it is always fun! haha

-Blocks! grouping the blocks into color groups or counting them. (organization and math skills)

Well my son is in Kindergarten and they use dominoes for learning addition.  Like on the worksheets; they'll have say...4 dots on one side and 2 on the other.  They write down 4 than 2 and count all the dots and get 6 of course.  So it's a great way to learn how to do basic addition.  Learning thru play is the best way to learn and especially; like putting addition facts, while singing; jingles are good ways to remember things.  You could play I spy, to work on colors and objects.  You could even play war with cards; to learn which number is bigger/greater..you could play a memory game; where you place the cards upside down and find the match.  Good way to learn sharing/taking turns.

You are definitely on the right track.  They are learning how to read in kindergarten, addition, subtraction, geometric shapes, just not the basic, correcting sentences, like changing the first letter to a uppercase and adding a period to the end.  They'll be doing multiplication in the 2nd grade!  hehe yikes is all i have to say.

1) Car number plates: Children pick a random dominoe from a bag. Then they cant how many dots on each half-first person to find a car number plate with one or both those numbers wins that round.

2) Use the dominoes to explore spacial awareness and cause and effect---they stack them and then push one to make the 'domino effect'...then you can extend this by saying "what happens if we put them further apart?".

3) Imagination activity: draw around the dominoe and then the child has to think what that drawing can become-eg: an aeroplane, a rocket, a car...and they finish the picture.

4) Guessing game: have dominoes in a bag-take a handful and BEFORE counting them guess who has the most in their hand, how many are they holding etc. This maths-estimation and capacity.

5) The 'easy' dominoe game-children have to set down one piece at a time putting "5" dots next to "5" dots etc until there are no pieces left...this is matching, reaffirms counting (understanding that 5 dots is 5-one-to-one concept).
